Relevant Courses:
Orthopedic Biomechanics, Biomechanics of Movement, Dynamic Systems, Biomedical Engineering Design RESEARCH
Hip Fracture Prevention Lab
• Currently working in a biomechanics research lab to develop a method of predicting femur fracture
• Using Mimics and 3-matic to segment CT scans of cadaveric femurs to be 3D printed and then tested with FEA and an MTS machine to determine correlations in fracture pattern PROJECTS
Total Joint Replacement
• Worked on a project with a team of graduate students to develop a total joint replacement for a cervical intervertebral disc
• Conducted in-depth literature searches of ASTM and ISO standards, used Mimics and 3-matic to make 3D models of CT scans, and utilized SolidWorks FEA to evaluate wear rates on the device Pessary Device for Urinary Incontinence
• Coordinated a team of BME students and two OB-Gyn physicians at the UW Hospital to design an improved pessary device for urinary incontinence
• Sourced materials such as medical-grade silicone to fabricate a working prototype
• Designed 3D printed molds using SolidWorks
Pressure Sensing Sleeve
• Collaborated with an Orthopedic Surgeon at the UW Hospital to design a pressure-sensing sleeve to be used by residents to practice casting Colles distal radius fractures
• Developed a program to display a color mapped image of the pressures observed on a monitor using LabVIEW, Arduino, and conductive fabric
• Used MATLAB to quantify force data
