Aker Solutions, Houston, TX January 2015 - Present Structural Engineer III (Lead)

Lead a structural team in the subsea product distribution at Aker Solutions in the following major aspects:

Development of new subsea distribution structures

Improvement of the existing subsea structures

Standardization/optimization of the existing products therefore reducing the cost and lead time. Design and development includes SUTA, SDA/SDU, STFL, PLETs, PLEMs, Manifold, Vertical XT, Running Tool etc. Other duties include:

Support project execution team in resource allocation, man hour estimation

Checking and approval of engineering drawings ensuring proper calculations are followed and pertinent codes are addressed

Acts as a liaison between the client and project management team

Fabrication yard support to ensure structure being built following the engineering drawing properly

Support the tendering team in various level of activities SBM Offshore USA, Houston, TX July 2012 – November 2014 Structural Engineer II

Design engineer of suction piles for Shell Stones FPSO Projects. Design engineer of bogie support structure for same projects. Design engineer of buoy (partial), turret (partial) and various other components of the same projects. Designed and analyzed the topside module for the same projects.

Bilge keel repair analysis of FRADE FPSO. Work involves crack investigation, proposing new profile and analyzing the profile for fatigue damage. ANSYS Classics was used to calculate principal stress and long term distribution LTD was used to calculate the fatigue damage.

Clean up and decommissioning of Kuito FPSO. Work involves design and analysis of padeye and support structures for towing operation.

Department of Civil Engineering, LSU, Baton Rouge, LA January’09–May’12 Research Assistant and Instructor

Worked on recently open John James Audubon Bridge Project across the Mississippi River. Evaluated the performance of newly adopted positive moment continuity detail as proposed by NCHRP 519 for precast-prestressed concrete girder bridges. Finite element software ANSYS was used to develop creep model to estimate the long term deformation of prestressed girder bridges. Force transfer mechanism through the newly adopted continuity details was also investigated. Effect of temperature gradient on the restraint moment which is normally ignored in the conventional design practice was also investigated in this project.

Worked on a project that involves stiffening thin walled steel structure using pultruded FRP sections. Thin walled steel plate girders were designed and tested with and without FRP stiffening to find stiffening effects on load carrying capacity and ductility.

Offered undergraduate-level Mechanics of Materials course from Fall 2010 to Spring 2012 that includes giving lecture, preparation for the experimental procedure, setup experimental apparatus and providing introduction of the experiment. Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN August’08–December’08 Teaching Assistant for Geotechnical Lab

Taught students laboratory techniques in Geotechnical Engineering. This also included determining various engineering properties of soil.

Responsible for preparation of the experimental procedure, setup apparatuses teaching and direction to run the experiment. Consultancy, Research and Testing Services, DUET, Bangladesh December’04–August’08 Structural Engineer & Instructor

Provided engineering consultancy services of hydraulic structures that include design of culverts, investigation of slope stability of dams and river embankment, design of water supply systems.

Provided engineering consultancy services for private as well as government projects. Services included structural design and analysis of residential and industrial buildings. Seismic analysis, finite element simulation, safety and failure analysis of steel plate girder bridges and buildings. Evaluation and rehabilitation of existing residential buildings to convert it into industrial buildings with the help of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.

Design of residential buildings. Work involves structural design, construction support including cladding, curtain wall etc.

Tested and evaluated the engineering properties of reinforcing steels, concrete, rubber bearing pads and other construction materials. Also involved in site supervision, planning and scheduling, shop drawings and quantity surveying. EDUCATION
