As an Open Systems Storage Engineer, I Work in a hub for customer communications and SAN environmental monitoring and management. I engage problems detected or reported, provision storage, and board new customers into the offering.
My duties involve the investigation and research of complex problems that occur in the SAN environment. The investigation phase involves, Shift turnover, primary telephone support, active and passive system monitoring, Lotus notes email processing, managing change and problem tickets and limited SAN environmental changes
The research phases involve, managing and monitoring the problem and change ticketing systems. Change preparation and planning, including architect and design. Architecture involves naming conventions for zoning, customer enablement, port/switch assignments, managing LUN locations, and cable assignments. Change implementation, includes execution of the architecture and design by defining the host server on the Enterprise Storage Server, allocating storage, defining zone members and pushing the zone member into the zone set and production environment.
Focal Teams: Documentation Process and Procedure and the Enterprise Shark Storage Team. My primary duty is to promote consistency, rapid change, and skill transferability. Focal members are utilized as a resource for daily investigation and research related customer problems.

As a member of Media Engineering Division, I certified 8mm media utilizing Lab View and Vista software applications. Data collection and analysis of test results were used to certify media for release. Strict quality standards were maintained and subsequent failures were used to drive corrective action in the manufacturing process from suppliers. My other duties included the maintenance and RMA of all lab equipment, environmental chamber testing of tape drives, and microscopic examination of media and helical scanners.

Senior Software Test Engineer McDATA Corporation, Broomfield, CO April 2000 to August 2001
As a Senior Software Test Engineer, I performed manual and automated interoperability testing in a SAN environment. Setup, design and implementation of medium to large scale SAN configurations were utilized in the certification of microcode.
As project lead, I managed a team of engineers and technicians in the test and development of microcode for the ED5000 Fibre Channel Director. The testing of microcode in a SAN environment was driven by EMC customer related failures. Test suites and configuration matrices were utilized during each microcode release phase. Troubleshooting failures to the protocol level aided software engineers in the debugging of microcode and subsequent microcode fixes incorporated in each release.
Special projects: Wrote a user’s guide for the EVTMAN guided user interface (GUI) application software. Maintained

User Interface Software using IBM, Sun, Hewlett Packard, and NT servers attached to Sun, Clariion, and StorageTek RAID products. Solved customer connectivity issues related to these products.
Special project: Engineering validation of Auspex NS3000 Network Attached Storage product. Validated
Configuration, functionality and performance attached to Sun Enterprise and Windows NT servers Utilizing Alteon’s host bus adapters and gigabit switch.
In Application Engineering I provided 24 hour on call open systems engineering support for hardware/software installation, and configuration of SCSI, Fibre Channel and Storage Area Networks attached to Solaris, AIX, HP and Windows servers with StorageTek’s enterprise disk, switches, bridges, and routers.
