IBM AS/400 System Administrator:

•Provide analysis and solutions for IBM AS/400 business server job processing, information backup and system disaster recovery replication. Analyze AS400 content and performance logs to troubleshoot problems and be aware of activity.

•Research, download, configure load and apply updates at customer request or IBM recommendation to IBM AS400 hardware and software as well as non IBM software. The server remote site is accessed from the office or by VPN but occasionally travel there is necessary. Non IBM software examples are TAATOOLS expanded AS/400 system functionality, MIMIX system replication and ROBOT system monitoring. Often communication with the remote system monitoring team is necessary to coordinate software monitoring deactivation so as not to send alarm messages to recipients.

•Resolve customer reported problems and service requests. Analyze output configurations and consult with network and server technicians as well as customer personnel. Visit on-site customers when device failures or communication problems are suspected and not otherwise resolvable or the customer does not recognize the problem cause. Successfully access remote systems to analyze and resolve problems while on-call offsite outside normal working hours. Work with other CSC team members and other CSC personnel.

•Perform steps to switch active and backup servers to annually test disaster recovery. Analyze and rectify the replication system MIMIX when performance cannot complete.
