IBM 2000 - 2015

Pre-Sales Cloud Architect, Infrastructure Relationship Manager

Responsible for creating solutions enhancing client’s operating environment and Change Control Management solutions by building them in IBM’s Structured Cloud Data Centers. Led all phases of client engagement projects, from pre-sales to production acceptance. Managed a team of 38.

Pre-Acquisition analysis of systems, network infrastructure, server, storage, applications. Documentation of what the final solution should be and the costs involved to make a single business unit without duplication of any configuration along with the migration requirements / cost. Project Managed all phases of implementation after final purchase completed.

Reduced client on boarding time from 5 months to 1 months - a 93% success rate in the first pass: On boarding to the Private Cloud solutions were delayed because of inaccurate and lost data during the sales cycle. Took the Excel spreadsheets that were being used into a Web portal, where Change Control, document management and solution iterations were managed.

Developed the IBM Solution Design Center of Excellence, this was in response to client satisfaction issues. Met with CEOs and CIOs to understand why they contracted with IBM, increased their Satisfaction levels by 15% over 2 years, accounting for approximately $75M in new Contracts.

Managed the project for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mapped out a weekend move identifying all components, network requirements and cabling/power requirements. Scripted test plans and wrote standards for packaging each type of device: Starting on Memorial Day, executed the project plan and completed the successful move of 4,000 devices.

Negotiated a global contract for Revlon with more favorable discounts - a 35% cost reduction off list prices on all hardware and 28% off on maintenance charges (originally 10%): Purchasing of system components was being done on an individual basis. Gathered the total purchasing of components from multiple vendors, took that spend to a single company in a RFQ.

At Revlon, developed standards for infrastructure as a Service Model, including Servers, Storage and Network connection standards to assure No single point of failure existed within the corporation. Executed Cross Site backups to assure data was protected from loss in all cases.

University of Southern Mississippi’s portable computer assets were being lost and were not tracked. Collected the assets and, although the hardware was damaged beyond repair, established a dry-out process enabling the recovery of 95% of the data: By collecting the 75% of the assets, the client's insurance company was willing to fund a mass purchase of 95% of the replacement hardware.

Cigna’s system facilities were maxed out, with no additional power available for 3 years. New systems were needed to comply with National Privacy regulations. Proposed to the client hardware consolidation and existing components upgrades (a $10k contract) without any increase in electricity consumption: Met the government deadlines, reduced power 12% saving $120k over 2-years.

During a quarterly review, clients gave poor marks to 8 projects on a Client Satisfaction Survey. Went to the clients’ CxOs to correct misconceptions and a plan to move forward. Of the 8 projects, got 7 back on track. Due to the effort to repair the client’s impressions of IBM, the CEO later reached out and wrote a new $65,000 contract.

Joined IBM as a Senior Infrastructure Consultant, promoted to Technical Manager at IBM and Senior Manager, Solution Design Center of Excellence.

Previously, Director of Global Data Networking at Revlon.
