Safety Trainer Klockner Pentaplast of America 2015 to present

As a member of the Klockner Pentaplast leadership team, work directly with employees and managers to support the corporate commitment to workplace safety and continuous learning. Regularly interface with members of the leadership team to keep abreast of emerging issues, opportunities for enhancing safety and training.

Develop safety training programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA and NFPA standards to provide workplace education for employees to control workplace hazards and reduce risks, ensuring all training meets applicable regulatory standards with appropriate recordkeeping. Assist in the development, coaching, orientating and onboarding of new employees through classroom, platform and technical training opportunities.

Safety and Training Supervisor City of Charlottesville Virginia 2001 - 2015

Responsible for the design, development, implementation, coordination and presentation of a comprehensive safety program for the public works department for the city of Charlottesville. In addition, provided training in organizational development and safety for police, fire and rescue, construction contractors and vendors, and parks and recreation departments.

Successfully developed and implemented gas operator qualification program as demonstrated by superior ratings awarded by U.S. Department of Transportation.

Responsible for conducting investigations and preparing narrative briefs to document incidents for corrective action. As a key member of environmental management system team, develop training and environmental system procedures for handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.

Safety & Training Director Illinois Municipal Utilities Association 1999 - 2001

Responsible for overseeing and developing a comprehensive safety program to foster a positive safety culture for a statewide association of municipal utilities. From a home-based office, independently researched laws and regulations, and developed a safety program, that incorporated instructional plans to promote compliance and safe operations.

Traveled extensively, conducting monthly safety briefings, audits and meetings for more than 70 cities’ electric, gas and water utility employees at their locations throughout the coverage area. Served as a featured speaker and instructor at various regional conferences, workshops and training seminars to promote safety, security and compliance issues.

Energy Delivery Manager Illinois Power Company 1996 - 1998

As a member of the management team, responsible for overseeing dispatch, operation, and supervision of energy delivery crews performing work at remote locations throughout the state of Illinois. Coordinated multiple computer tracking and satellite location systems to work closely with field-based teams, and to support emergent operations in the field during weather events.

Assistant Flight Commander United Nuclear Corporation 1988 - 1996

Served as Assistant Flight Commander, responsible for actual and simulated flight training systems, in-flight operation and supervision of 15 rotary-wing instructor pilots and their assigned students. Prior to promotion to Assistant Flight Commander, served as Lead Instructor Pilot, providing instruction for Cobra contact and instrument phases.

Consistently maintained highest instructor pilot/student performance proficiencies and evaluations for the branch, at Ft. Rucker, Alabama. Total flight time exceeded more than 5,000 accident-free hours, with total pilot-in-command time exceeding 4,200 hours.

Simulator instruction included experience in all phases of computer-generated flight conditions, with emphasis on safety, electronic navigational aids and applications. Flight operations involved both routine and emergency operations as well as training, standardization and evaluations.

Took lead role in investigating flight incidents, safety infractions and opportunities to enhance safety, student deficiencies, flight standardization and interfacing with regulatory agencies.
