SUMMARY

Electromechanical Engineer with experience concentrated on 3D design and integration of printed circuit card assemblies, chassis design, mechanical assemblies, and cabling.

EXPERIENCE

Engility Corporation (2009-May 2017)

(Formerly Dynamics Research Corp.), Deployable Communications Group,

GPS Division, Andover, MA

ElectroMechanical design and support of VME-Based military GPS receiver boards.

Mechanical 3D design and documentation of electronic conduction-cooled and convection-cooled printed circuit card assemblies (CCAs). Performed thermal and vibration analysis, design of the conduction cooled frames, front panel design, and onboard cable design. Was responsible for resolving prototyping and production mechanical issues, material ordering. I had to meet budget and schedule constraints.

Fiber Optic Converter Chassis re-design for the US Marine Corps. This was a re-engineering effort that involved the replacement of obsolete circuit cards, power supplies and cast aluminum chassis with a unit that was dimensionally identical. Was responsible for the design and analysis of the new chassis, including integration of the new circuit cards into the chassis, thermal and vibration analysis, and material selection.

Configuration Management, drafting, and documentation of project hardware. Ordinarily this is a peripheral engineering function, but in our small group we had to wear many different hats. I ensured that our product was reproducible by both in-house technicians and external assembly houses.

Supported production, quoting, design of assemblies, fixtures, manufacturing, and inventory.

Supported electronic design and schematic capture for printed circuit board designer, and supported production process. Worked with the electronics engineer who was responsible for schematic capture, and worked intimately with our PCB designer, reviewing schematic and mechanical updates.

Designed custom tooling for in-house production and testing. Designed and manufactured numerous prototype chassis, fixtures and tools to assist the electronics engineers and technicians. These chassis and fixtures helped meet schedule, while the custom tooling protected equipment as well as saving time and money.

Engility Corporation (2005-2009)

(Formerly Dynamics Research Corp.), Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Cambridge, MA

Contract engineer (on site long-term) on behalf of DRC, supporting the Navy Trident Fleet Ballistic Missile Life Extension (MK6LE) program, for the redesign of several guidance boards and design, and integration of hardware-in-loop equipment.

Supported redesign of guidance modules, including mechanical design and documentation.

Performed thermal analysis on critical guidance hardware.

Did mechanical design and integration of test equipment used for design, emulation, and debugging of guidance hardware.

Served as Configuration Manager of Test Equipment, controlling location and configuration.

Engility Corporation (1992-2005)

(Formerly Dynamics Research Corp.), Test Equipment Division,

West Newton, MA.

Mechanical design and support for a variety of projects.

Did mechanical design and support of VME-based military GPS receiver boards.

Did product development of and support of several VME and Compact PCI-based CCAs, for military and commercial market.

Provided mechanical support for Trident MK6 test equipment.

Served as librarian for printed circuit board components.

Served as schematic capture component librarian.

Managed and operated LPKF HP/101 Automill, rapid-prototyping circuit plotter.

Designed supporting fixtures for environmental testing.
