Achievement Highlights:

Deployed EMC XtremIO All-Flash solid state array to host six full copies of the 8TB EPIC EMR Cache database on less than 10TB of disk space. In addition to the cost saving realized by the 5 to 1 de-dupe rate; the Clarity data extract time reduced by 66% and the backup time reduced from over 24 hours to less than 6 hours.

Deployed two EMC ISILON Scale-Out NAS systems with SYNCIQ data replication technology to replace six CENTERA object based storage arrays and six HP EVA block storage arrays, resulting in a consolidated storage footprint that offset a $565k annual operating expense.

Deployed VCE VBLOCK Converged Infrastructure platforms in two data centers with EMC Recover Point replication to address disaster recovery requirements for six Meditech EMR hospitals and six EPIC EMR hospitals. Also planned the implementation of VMware NSX Virtual Networks with Application Isolation protection. Eliminated a $970K annual operating expense for offline collocated data center space at Sun Guard.

Deployed Microsoft Federation Services on premise with Azure AD Connect to enable native Single Sign-On capability for Office 365 as well as SAML 2.0 pass-thru authentication for externally hosted third party applications like EPIC User Web and PeopleSoft ERP system hosted by Oracle Cloud Services.

Representative Projects

Strategic Technology Planning: Deployed VXRAIL Hyper-Converged systems at nine hospital data centers to replace the server, storage and SAN Fabric infrastructure that reached its end of service life. The rollout of this robust, modular, and highly scalable architecture, minimizes the hardware requirement and simplifies the configurations while increasing flexibility and reducing the upfront capital investment.

Results: The new hardware, hosting virtual servers managed by VMWare ESX, Virtual Center, and Log Insight reduced overall operating expenses by $238k per year over five years.

Enterprise Design Implementation: Deployed a centralized dual data center configuration of EMC Networker data protection suite and two Data Domain DD7200 array to replace five legacy backup systems with separate DLT4 tape library changers and storage node servers at 12 different locations.

Results: The DDBOOST in-line de-duplication capabilities reduced the daily backup window by six hours and stores over 2.5PB (petabytes) of data on approximately 275GB of disk space.

Integrated Systems Migration: Managed large-scale initiative involving the transition of 782 physical servers hosted on reference architecture systems to 28 VMware ESX virtual host servers on the VCE VBLOCK Converged Infrastructure platform leveraging EMC VMAX and XtremIO All-Flash solid state storage arrays.

Results: Achieved seamless migrations transparent to daily operations with no unscheduled downtime resulting in a consolidated hardware footprint with significantly reduced power and cooling requirements.

System Architecture & Security: Deployed McAfee Web Gateway Internet Content Filter and Citrix NetScaler Load Balancer and Remote Access Gateway with Xen Mobile Secure Mail, Secure Web, and ShareFile to manage internet access on desktop and mobile devices while encrypting and password protecting downloaded and shared content within the Citrix Secure Hub.

Results: Improved security posture by restricting access to advertisements, social networking, personal email and personal network storage sites; resulting in a 50% decrease of malware, spyware and phishing detections.
