PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Liberty Mutual’s OC, AM Stat reporting system has a group of applications that creates and reports to various bureaus like ISO, NCRF & DMVs. These applications receive data from upstream systems like underwriting systems and claims systems and processes the data to submit various compliance and state mandated statistical reports. The finance system comprises of many applications like RDW,CFLI,ISO, SIRA, CSP, PSP, AIP, ALR & CSC. Each application will interact with others and performs different functions. The objective of this project is to add enhancements to the statistical reporting applications. For each enhancement request, a detailed impact analysis will be done. The issues and clarifications will be discussed with team members. Once the requirement is clear, the other SDLC phases like design, coding, unit testing and review will be performed. The project also involves fixing any defects arising during enhancements, and responding to the questions from various business or IT partners related to the reporting Applications. The tested enhancements will be moved to production during monthly releases. All the enhancements are documented as per Cognizant’s as well as Liberty Mutual’s standards. The reporting applications are running on IBM OS-390. The DMV reporting system is a complex and major one which has one module for each reporting state. This system has CICS online screens which are used to use correct the errors on the records that we submitted to the DMVs. COBOL, JCL, Eazytrieve are the major programming languages used in the project. DB2 is used as the backend data base. The tools and utilities used in this project are TSO/ISPF, XPEDITOR, COMPAREX, File-Aid, ESP, RequestIT, Endevor, Cognizant 2.0 and Service Centre.

CLIENT DESCRIPTION:

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mr. Vijayakrishna yalamanchi is the primary responsible person for OC, AM Stat reporting applications at onsite. Any business requirements from the business team, from the state DMVs and other bureaus are handled by him in IT perspective. He performs technical impact analysis on all the requirements to identify the gaps. Once the requirements are finalized, he performs design, coding and unit testing of those enhancements. He responds and resolves to any technical queries raised on stat applications by business users. He works on reducing the execution time of the batch jobs, automates many of the manual processes in stat applications like file transfer automation, automated monthly balancing, daily abend reports. He develops the requirements in COBOL, JCL, Eazytrieve, VSAM and DB2 environment and he works on MQ series technology which is used in the ALR application to load the data into web service database which is present in a different mainframe. He uses ESP and Endevor tools to schedule and test the newly developed jobs. SERCHA is an OC, AM application specific utility program which was developed in-house. He has a very good experience on this utility, as he is using this utility in most of his applications. Similarly, he works on Eazytrieve programming which is rare in mainframe systems. He regularly uses the DB2 tool File-Edit to analyze and edit the stat data in a safe environment. He uses the version control tool Endevor and change management tool Service Centre during monthly releases. He uses C2.0, a Cognizant proprietary tool for entering efforts and collect metrics. Experience of all these utilities and mainframe along with the good business applications knowledge makes him unique to the project.

Recording Information System (RIS) is a custom built data repository for ACE-Private Risk Services. RIS is also known as the registration system and it holds all vital information (policy, financial transactions) for PRS.

RIS receives and stores policy, claims, producer, insured and billing related information from the corresponding applications. Also sends policy, loss information, financial transactions, etc to various applications via outbound interfaces.

Policy Writing System (PWS) is the legacy policy administration system of ACE PRS. Personal Line System (PLS) is the new policy administration system which replaced the PWS legacy system.

PWS receives and stores claims, producer and cancellation/reinstatement information from the corresponding applications. Also sends policy, premium and policy DEC pages to various applications via outbound interfaces.
