I am currently working full time for Cox Monett Hospital, a critical access hospital. I split my time between the emergency room and the urgent care clinic. I worked in the Clinical Decision Unit, an observation unit associated with the emergency
room. This unit is reserved for short stay cardiac patients including patients with chest
pains, stress tests, pre and post angiograms, pre and post pacemaker placement, PFO
closures. Occasionally, we also cared for overflow observation patients whose diagnoses
include renal stones pre and post lithotripsy, pre and post appendectomy,
cholecystectomy, hysterectomy, intractable nausea/vomiting, post op pain control, and more.

I worked at Mercy Hospital in the Endoscopy unit. I work in the outpatient clinic as well as inpatient doing procedures both elective and emergent. I work with the gastroenterologists, the pulmonologists, and the intensivists and I help admit the patients and do patient education about the procedure and the discharge instructions; I do recovery as well as work in the procedure room, administering conscious sedation and assisting the physician with obtaining biopsies and doing other procedures such as removing polyps. I also act as a circulating nurse and document each procedure accurately.
I also worked as a Registered Nurse on a cardiac telemetry unit at Mercy Hospital. Duties included medication passes, heart rhythm analysis, formulating care plans, direct patient care/comfort, and teamwork with interdisciplinary team including the patients, their families, physicians, patient care associates, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Generally, nurse to patient ratio was 1:5-6. This is a 31 bed unit.

Served as PCA on 4D, a progressive care unit for post-operative heart and lung patients. Performed direct patient care including taking vital signs, assistance with bathing, eating and ambulation. I also returned to the clinic to work with their Family Practice/OB physician for my Women’s health rotation.
