Resume:

EDUCATION:

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Worcester MA Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, GPA: 3.7 /4.0, 05/2018

Related courses: Advanced Chemical Processes, Applied Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering I & II*, Introduction to Material Science, Organic Chemistry I & II, Fluid Mechanics, Mass Transfer, Chemical Plant Design Project* (*To be completed by May 2018)

EXPERIENCE:

Materials Characterization Co-op: Saint-Gobain Northborough R&D Center, 03/2017-08/2017 Conducted elemental analysis using ICP-OES on various products such as competitive products, glasses, foams, stearates, and bonded and coated abrasives. Utilized sample preparation techniques including fusion and acid digestion to dissolve samples for analysis. Analyzed samples using FTIR to study and determine nature of the product. Worked on a collaborative project with the Coated Abrasive Business and Competency Research Labs.

Content Management System Assistant: Marketing & Communications, WPI, 05/2016-08/2016 Worked on developing the current WPI website using Drupal. Primarily worked on editing and creating pages.

PROJECTS:

Coated Abrasives: Fiber Disc Project, Saint-Gobain Northborough R&D, 03/2017-08/2017 Investigated a fiber disc product that has an undesirable trait of curling. Designed and conducted experiments to understand the production process and how it affects the curling of the end-product. Aided in formulating various coatings to analyze their moisture absorbance characteristics. Evaluated various proposed solutions such as applying different types of coatings on the back.

Interactive Qualifying Project: Analysis of Research Resources, DAC Biotech, China, 10/2016-12/2016 Examined challenges DAC Biotech researchers face while acquiring full length articles and staying up to date with recent publications. Conducted surveys and interviews to understand the problem and examine solutions. Recommended a combination of multiple literature resources. Implemented a notification system.

Advanced Chemical Processes: Soil Remediation Unit, WPI, 04/2016-05/2016 Collaborated in a group of four to analyze the soil and water contamination of a town to determine a time and cost effective solution. Examined contamination levels and various possible systems to determine an optimum solution.

Advanced Chemical Processes: Batch Distillation, WPI, 03/2016-05/2016 Analyzed different parameters to scale-up a pilot-scale batch distillation column. Ran simulations using Aspen to find an optimal design.

Applied Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics: Pressure-Swing Distillation, WPI, 02/2016-03/2016 Worked in a group of four to design a cost effective column of an acetone-methanol mixture by examining deviations from Raoult’s laws. Investigated the effects of pressure over a range to find the optimum pressure. Conducted a comparative analysis between a high pressure and pressure-swing distillation system.

SKILLS:

Laboratory Techniques: Titration, Fusion, Spectroscopy (UV, FTIR and NMR), ICP-OES analysis, Chromatography (HPLC and TLC), Acid Digestion, Microwave Digestion Software: Mathcad, Polymath, Aspen, CAPCOST, Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), COMSOL

LEADERSHIP:

Resident Program Advisor: Residential Services, WPI, 07/2016-08/2016

Secretary, Black Student Union, WPI, 06/2015-05/2016

Events Representative, International Student Council, WPI, 09/2015-05/2016

Peer Mentor: International House, WPI, 08/2015-12/2015

ACTIVITIES:
