Dear Engineering Firm:

I am writing to apply for an entry-level mechanical engineering position at an engineering firm. I am a recent graduate with a BS in Mechanical Engineeering from joint degree program between Rockhurst University and UMKC. With my engineering coursework and project experience, my interest in innovation and problem solving, and my history of successful team projects, I believe I am a strong candidate for your company.

As an undergraduate, I have balanced a rigorous course load and a number of extracurricular activities including Service Learning that have allowed me to enhance my skills relevant to engineering and achieve a well-rounded education. Specific to engineering, through my academic project work, I have developed abilities in 3-D design and modeling, an understanding of materials, and have practiced different manufacturing technologies. I have participated in academic team projects that require collaboration, strong writing and presentation skills. For example, in my Engineering Graphics class, I created mechanical drawings and designs in both AutoCad and SolidWorks. Additionally, in my Thermodynamics course, my teammate and I machined and assembled a working Stirling engine, meeting or exceeding all requirements and deadlines. I have also worked on developing the strong interpersonal and communication skills required to contribute as a mechanical engineer. Throughout my undergraduate experience, I have used my strong work ethic and passion for methodical and practical problem solving to meet, or exceed, expectations. Additionally, I have gained some real-world experience from the summer that I spent working at Cambridge Engineering full-time. I am eager to apply my engineering knowledge and skills at an engineering firm.

I am very interested in interviewing for this opportunity and look forward to learning more about your engineering opportunities. Attached, please find my resume for your consideration. I would be glad to discuss it with you. Please feel free to contact me at 314-***-**** or by email at ***************@*****.***. Thank you very much for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Nick D’Angelo
