Resume:

Summary

Over ** years of work experience in mechanical design and analysis of power generation equipment and 6 years of experience in design, analysis, and manufacturing of medical devices, with focus on reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability. At ABB, I worked 6 years on stress analysis of industrial boilers, pressure vessels, and piping system. At UTC Fuel Cells I spent 5 years on mechanical design and analysis of PEM fuel cell power plant components, including FEA stress analysis, vibration testing, packaging design etc. At GE Energy, I was responsible for a 500 MW gas turbine combustion system, including mechanical design, life analysis, cost reduction, supplier qualification, customer support, etc. Over the years I have accumulated a lot of experience in mechanical design, analysis, manufacturing, repair, and in-depth knowledge in areas such as fatigue, crack growth, creep, corrosion, etc. I am familiar with many ASTM test methods, and I have several years of international work experience. I have also taken up the responsibility of mentoring young and new engineers.

Employment History

5/2013 – Now

Sr. Principal Product Engineer, Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN

Responsible for silicone molding manufacturing operations of over 130 individual parts with total volume over 1.5 millions per year. Responsibilities include:

• Ensure manufactured products meet specification.

• Conduct process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).

• Meet customer demand, communicate with customer on quality issues.

• Conduct CAPA and nonconformance investigations.

• Review current processes for improvement and develop new manufacturing processes with higher efficiency and lower cost.

• Collaborate with Quality and sourcing teams to develop suppliers and contract manufacturers.

• Work with design engineers to review part specification to improve producibility.

9/2010 – 4/2013

Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer, Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN

Mechanical design and analysis of new pacemaker and defibrillators that will function normally under MRI scanning. Responsibilities include understanding customer’s needs, generating initial design concept, performing mechanical analysis (FEA, fatigue) and material analysis (biocompatibility, corrosion), conducting GLP study, working with FDA on design intend, generating BOMs and reviewing and updating drawings, identifying cost-reduction opportunities, and working with suppliers to improve manufacturing capability. Also work with quality engineer to improve company design process and create product design standards. Assure technical quality excellence.

4/2004 – 5/2010

Lead Mechanical Engineer, GE Gas Turbine Technology Laboratory, GE Energy, Greenville, SC

Responsible for mechanical design, durability analysis, cost reduction, supplier qualification, customer support of several GE industrial gas turbine combustion systems, including a 500 MW gas turbine (H-System). Responsibilities include: 1) review and update engineering drawings, 2) stress analysis and life assessment (HCF & LCF), 3) work with suppliers on quality and schedule, 4) Identify cost reduction opportunities, 5) Support power plant outages, solve problem in a tight schedule, and 6) Provide technical guidance to younger engineers.

7/1998 – 2/2004

Senior Stress Analyst, UTC Fuel Cells, a UTC company, South Windsor, CT

Worked on fuel cell power plant mechanical design and analysis. Responsibilities include: 1) review and update engineering drawings; 2) Generate FEA models of fuel cell components and perform stress analysis using NASTRAN/I-DEAS, 3) Perform piping analysis using ASME Section VIII, B31.1. 4) Conduct testing including tensile, compressive, shear, vibration and creep.

9/1992 - 6/1998

Principal Engineer, ABB Power Plant Laboratories, ABB Inc., Windsor, CT

Performed stress analysis of industrial boilers and pressure vessels, piping, using both design standards such as ASME Codes Section I & VIII, B31.1, DIN, and finite element analysis. Analysis types include heat transfer, linear and nonlinear stress analysis, fatigue and crack growth. Used FEA codes DISPLAY/NISA and MARC.

International Experience

4/2008 – 01/2009

Lead Mechanical Engineer, GE International, Warsaw, Poland

Responsible for training a new engineering design team so they become familiar with company design process and can carry out engineering projects independently, this includes mechanical design, analysis, manufacturing support, and customer support, etc. Also led the team on several engineering projects so they could learn on the job. The assignment was a big success.

10/1995 - 7/1996

Principal Engineer, ABB Power Generation Ltd., Baden, Switzerland
