POLYMER TECHNICIAN

Dart Container Corp - Mason, MI - May 2016 to Present

Worked as part of the Polymers/Materials Operations team using knowledge of chemical process engineering and mechanical experience to diagnose and repair process utilities and equipment while expanding operational capabilities of a Class I, Division I Pilot Plant used for polymer production.

Analyzed and updated pilot plant P&IDs using AutoCAD P&ID

Ran experiments under direction of Senior Chemists in an R&D capacity. Used SOPs for established processes and assisted in experimental design and development of new SOPs for novel processes at laboratory and pilot

scales with consideration toward full production scale-up.

Modified existing equipment and designed and built customized equipment to overcome challenges faced by the Materials Operations group while minimizing expenses.

Worked with Controls and Electrical Engineers to determine operational status of plant I/Os, repair or replace components as necessary, and update the complete plant controls system. Work included the completion of all engineering documentation pertaining to the implementation of an updated PAC system for the polymer pilot plant and assured that process requirements were understood and addressed in control design.

Worked on the analysis of current suspension polymerization reactors for the purpose of isolating causes of failures and intermittent under-performance and recommending possible reactor design and scaling

optimizations to help push R&D improvements from the lab to production.
