I write and update Teradata Database software user guides with these authoring tools:
• Eclipse oXygen XML Editor (DITA) • XMetaL (DITA) • Adobe FrameMaker
• Adobe Acrobat Professional • Microsoft Office • Document management systems (Astoria, Ixiasoft) The Teradata Database books are written in DITA, reviewed in Acrobat Adobe Professional shared PDFs, and published in HTML. I work with the following teams:
• Software engineers: I work with the development team to document user guides, and to resolve software/documentation defects.
• The information engineering team: We work collaboratively, so I work with the other writers, information architects, and project leads to write the most accurate, grammatically, and technically correct documentation possible. I worked on a big DITA conversion project, where we converted the entire Database documentation set from FrameMaker files into DITA files. I helped convert the file, and clean them up.
• Illustrators: I create syntax diagram mockups or other illustrations, then work with the team illustrator to create the official images.
