Traditional in provides real-time charging & rating capabilities only to prepaid subscribers. Traditional billing system is always offline based on CDR file processing.

The OCS is oriented to all subscriber types and service types, offers unified online charging and online control capabilities.

CRESTEL’s Rating & Charging system enables service providers to run their prepaid and postpaid as a single cohesive business using its real-time, high-volume event handling and seamless subscriber management capabilities. It provides a single platform with real-time rating & charging, balance management, integrated customer management and billing, enabling providers to offer the same levels of service to subscribers regardless of how they pay. Providers deploying CRESTEL have the opportunity to deliver all those services to prepaid subscribers that were earlier only available to postpaid users by assigning an appropriate plan based on their credit risk and usage pattern.

The demands and service requirements of prepaid and postpaid customers are converging although volume, differences remain. Increasingly, prepaid customers are demanding rapid access to new services that have traditionally been targeted at postpaid customers. Postpaid customers in turn are asking for prepaid services-like budgeted limits to have greater control over their usage.
