ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE
Peripheral Neuropathy Assistive Device Project, Senior Design Project Fall 2016
• Created a peripheral neuropathy assistive device for patients with diabetic nerve damage to prevent them from falling
• Responsible for the electrical design and building of the device by incorporating pressure sensors, op-amps and vibration motors
• Verified and validated that all components of the assistive device were successfully integrated through usability testing
• Project manager: monitored team progress, set milestones, managed team meetings, and identified and resolved bottlenecks
• Conducted market analysis on the state of diabetes and its projected growth to determine a future need for our device amongst our target consumer. Held discussion with patients with peripheral neuropathy to identify device features
• Presented project to a panel of biomedical engineering professors and fellow students. Device was successfully demonstrated
Refrigerator Door Monitor Device & Application Spring 2017
• Designed and programmed a device to combat malnutrition in seniors by monitoring refrigerator door openings and closings
• Responsible for connecting an ESP8266 microcontroller to a reed switch and programmed it to work with a third party mobile application to alert users if they exceed their maximum threshold or fall below their minimum threshold in a certain amount of time
Electromyography Device Fall 2015
• Developed a device to record bioelectrical signals (electromyography) from muscles in the arm and converted the data into a real-time animation
• Modified a Raspberry Pi by soldering on a circuit that contains an analog front end, a filter, and an analog-to-digital converter to record bioelectrical signals from electrodes on an arm into digital data and remove any unnecessary noise. Transmitted data via Wi-Fi to display it on a laptop
• Coded a Python program to reflect the flexing and resting of an arm muscle into a real-time animation Electric Skateboard December 2016
• Constructed an electric skateboard that accelerates up to 20 mph
• Converted skateboard to include an electric motor, electronic speed controller, Li-ion batteries, and a wireless remote control
