Systems Development & Delivery: Recruited to spearhead Sun Microsystem’s high-value content management expansion. Partnered with digital content providers to identify and capture new market opportunities in high-value content acquisition, security, distribution, storage and archiving. Working with studios and Sun labs, defined and built high-volume (petabyte) content storage systems. Working with studio executives and technical teams, built digital model for the long-term retention and archiving of high-value content, secured and delivered demonstration projects with major studios, and worked with technical experts to define and execute project requirements. Presented at major technical conferences including SMPTE, HPA Tech Retreat (twice), JTS2007 (UNESCO archiving overarching body), and AMIA/REEL Thing (Hollywood content archiving), as well as with presidents of technical operations and the major studios.
Created a cost-effective, reliable, secure digital archiving model as a revenue-generating alternative to traditional content archives and IT back-office applications.
Wrote and published “Archiving Movies in a Digital World,” increasing awareness and industry acceptance of digital archiving for terabyte objects as an efficient, long-term retention solution for irreplaceable unstructured digital content.
