Plans, manages and directs the efforts of maintenance, electric, and hydraulic work teams and provides maintenance and mechanical engineering support to these teams. Assists in establishing the longer-term strategic plans for the plant. Develops operating policies and procedures as necessary. Oversee day to day coordination of direct employees and subcontractors/vendors. Manage daily schedule of Refrigeration Technicians to ensure plant coverage in the Refrigeration Department. Handle completion and compliance of the PSM/RMP/SOP's programs. Develop/prepare Work Schedule including weekend work/projects and Task lists to ensure Preventative Maintenance is performed on plant equipment. Assist techs with help when needed with performed maintenance on equipment including but not limited to cooling towers, pumps, microprocessors, oil/coalesce filters, load/unload slide valves, replaced liquid solenoids oil pumps/motors, and any other components and procedures associated with ammonia compressors. Single and two stage systems, reciprocating compressor and general knowledge of all other types of compressors, pump over feed, flooded ammonia, Evaporator (freezer and coolers), hot gas and water defrost systems temperature controls. Prepare daily check list including Boiler Checks, water testing, low/high water level cut-outs, blow downs, blower motors/ wheels, gas/solenoid valves, and troubleshooting pilot sensors. Knowledge, troubleshooting and Electrical experience with fan motors and refrigeration components/equipment. Maintain plant, refrigeration, utilities, and maintenance during production including startup & shut down. Troubleshoot and keep up with preventative maintenance on machinery, fire system and logs. Prepare correction of Cal OSHA fines related to PSM. Update and maintain PSM programs, NH3 refrigeration preventative maintenance programs, process safety information, mass energy balance, inventory and correction to system operations. Provide maintenance staff with training and project management including predictive maintenance programs such as vibration, ultrasound technologies. Projects include compressor replacement, evaporator replacement, boiler water softener rebuild and preventative maintenance projects (retrofit task and PM procedures) to ammonia refrigeration systems. Handle “Special Projects” for plant, prepare weekly water use documentation. In charge of gathering, preparing, correcting and updating documentation for plant audits. Maintain Microprocessor Controls, PLC, PSM, PM programs, refrigerant and Electricity and Instrumentation calibration. Operate and maintain a two stage industrial ammonia refrigeration system under safe and efficient conditions. Perform water treatment chemistry on cooling tower condensers.
