PROFESSIONAL AND BUSINESS EXPERIENCE
PricewaterhouseCoopers (2008 to Present)
- The client, a Fortune 500 company looked to PwC to develop a strategy and execute the consolidation of 12 regional data centers. Led the effort to standardize file server storage as well as the methodical decommissioning of regional data centers. The two-year program reduced IT infrastructure operating expenses by 33% and enabled a reduction in annual growth of those expenses from 5% to 3%, while simultaneously reducing the complexity and risk associated with the environment.
- As part of a data center consolidation project at the Fortune 500 company, developed an IT asset decommissioning framework to ensure costs associated with the decommissioning of mostly leased assets, were aligned with the savings forecasted within the original business case for consolidation. Put together a plan for decommissioning and communicated any delays (which in effect, ate into savings).
- Assessed the client’s file server storage footprint and determined the majority of file server data could be archived. Moreover, this archivable data was hosted and backed up by premium priced infrastructure. Analyzed various cloud offerings including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and EMC before arriving at a solution that more than halved current costs.
- The client, a provider of cloud TV services, faced difficulties in responding to incidents and planned changes effectively and efficiently. Led a number of improvement initiatives that resulted in the implementation of Agile and Kanban processes. Achieved an 8x incident response time improvement as well as providing transparency into team and service performance.
- Developed a strategy to establish a set of enterprise-wide information security policies and standards with respect to industry leading frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity, and PCI DSS that not only met regulatory requirements but also assisted the client to manage organizational risk effectively.
- The client, a manufacturing company requested PwC to assist in the gathering of infrastructure requirements with the purpose of identifying and selecting an appropriate managed service provider. As well as exploring traditional dedicated hosting providers, looked at IaaS and SaaS models including those services offered as part of the Microsoft Azure service.
- The client, a multinational advertising company running a hybrid of email platforms requested the assistance in selecting Microsoft Office 365 or Google Apps as their common email platform. Once scoring was complete, created key stakeholder documents including the decisioning process that went to the program leadership board. Also involved designing the support model.
- Built various transformation, loading, and reporting mechanisms (mainly in T-SQL) to facilitate the liquidation of the Lehman Brothers operation in Switzerland. Worked with various parties to identify and obtain large sets of pricing data before bringing it into a usable form that could be used by the finance and legal teams involved in the liquidation of operations in Switzerland.
Syngenta Crop Protection (2003 to 2008)
- As part of a major outsourcing initiative, worked with vendors to establish both global SharePoint and SQL services. Defined Request, Change and Release Management strategies that met agreed end-to-end SLAs. Created a support structure between the service provider, the service desk, and application support teams. Once the services went live, continued to mature IT operations to effectively reduce incidents
- Designed and implemented a collaboration platform based on SharePoint and Digital ID (certificate) technology (for two-factor authentication) to enable both corporate and third-party users to collaborate on intellectual property in a secure environment. Put in place a global support model that tied together vendors, the service desk, and application support teams.
