Division of Trinity Industries - a railcar parts manufacturer and a unit of the largest railcar builder in N. America.

Director of Purchasing and Logistics 2000-2016

Responsible for all procurement and logistics functions (HQ) and operations at Mexico finishing plant.

Utilized negotiation process and alternate source of inventory, resulting in 2016 cost savings exceeding $5 MM; purchased part inventory reductions exceeded 19% in 2015 and 10% in 2014.

Performed as chief U.S.A. liaison with company’s Mexico manufacturing facility. This high volume plant typically exceeded 99% on-time shipments to customers and had inventory accuracy performance with lower than .5% absolute variances.

Developed sources from China, South Korea, and India, thus facilitating international sourcing and best in class quality standards. Was key member representing Purchasing and Logistics on New Product Development Team providing for use of international suppliers and globally-competitive costs.

Accomplished personally the purchase of all raw materials (scrap and alloys) and inventory products (steel, forgings, castings) exceeding $50 MM annually in addition to overall administration of the department and staff.

Implemented special projects including Lean Manufacturing initiatives, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs and Conflict Minerals Compliance providing the division with conformance to corporate and government directives while providing lower overall costs with reduced lead times.

Successfully imposed and negotiated favorable Terms and Conditions on construction contracts exceeding $20MM yearly while keeping all projects on schedule.
