Worked on the Con Edison Maintenance Rule Structural Monitoring Program which dealt with the condition of buildings and structures to comply with the provisions of 10 CFR 50.65. Worked on replacement of four steam generators each weighing 370 tons. This task involved evaluation of underground utilities within transportation route, effects of cranes and heavy equipment on existing concrete and steel structures and design of motion restraint supports for piping associated with steam generators.

Fermi Nuclear Plant, Unit 2
Involved in revalidation effort in response to commitments made by DECo to the USNRC staff by providing resolution of all the issues on the Control Center HVAC Structures. This effort involved recalculation of pressure and seismic responses on ducts, duct supports and anchorages, reevaluation of systems to demonstrate their structural adequacy, design of modifications where required, and performance of constructability walkdowns to ensure implementation of effective modifications.

DOE Savannah River Site Project
Design of concrete and steel structures, drainage, and sewage systems in accordance with UBC, ACI and AISC codes. Utilized Westinghouse’s Savannah River site specific design criteria for extreme load cases such as earthquake and tornado. Finite element modeling of major “Waste Treatment” facilities utilizing STARDYNE structural engineering software. Tennessee Valley Authority.
Watts Bar Nuclear Plant Project, Unit 1
Worked on “Thermo-Lag Electrical Raceway Fire Barrier” design including evaluations of Thermo-Lag and 3M Firewrap material installation for existing electrical raceways. Performed field walkdowns in the process of preparing Design Change Notices (DCN) for field changes, and performed structural evaluations and position retention evaluations of these fire barrier enclosures. Task Lead for the rigorous Unit 1 pipe whip restraint evaluation and modification program, which was completed on schedule and within budget. This included managing a team of 12 engineers and performing a detailed evaluation of heavy steel frame protective devices to address Nuclear Regulatory Commission concerns regarding abnormal thermal and seismic loading conditions and the mitigation of postulated pipe breaks. Qualification of these highly stressed steel frames and associated embedded plates required dynamic analysis using the STRUDL computer program as well as extensive client and construction interface to resolve difficult modifications to these structures.
Task Lead for the conduit support qualification group, which refined and qualified typical support calculations and configurations. The purpose of this program was to expedite construction activities with emphasis on cost saving through optimal engineering. This task was completed on time and within budget with a team of 11 engineers and walkdown personnel. Other experience includes revising design criteria, preparation of proposals and work releases, evaluation and modification of suspended system supports including HVAC and cable trays, evaluation of reinforced concrete, steel containment vessel and seismic qualification of equipment panels. Comanche Peak Nuclear Plant Project, Units 1 and 2 Primary responsibilities included technical analysis of new and modification of “as built” cable tray/conduit HVAC duct hangers, trouble shooting complex installation problems, resolution of nonconformance and deficiency items caused by construction, interdiscipline coordination between site engineering and field construction engineering and crew, and issuance of design change authorization for modified hangers. Analysis and Design included extensive application of STRUDL static and dynamic frame analysis and finite element analysis program for complex hanger space frames, base plates, anchorage, and welded connections. Coordinated with Pierre Allibe of France to build a paper mill. Performed construction of concrete and steel superstructure / substructure and managed inter-disciplinary subcontractors, as well as tracking billing costs of the project.

Batikent Housing Project
Supervised construction of multi-story apartment complex, public school, and shopping center. Also responsible for installation of solar heating systems, road and drainage system construction. This project was funded by World’s Housing and Development Project. STFA Construction Company.
Adana Steel Mill Project
Worked as a subcontractor to STFA Construction Company. Performed analysis and design of steel frames and modification of existing steel structures for the installation of a heavy-duty industrial crane (gantry). This included the supervision and inspection of associated structural steel construction work details, and coordinating with the main and sub-contractors, from fabrication through installation, for bill of quantities and cost projection.
