Current Objective: Seeking a hands-on Construction Superintendent/ Manager position doing light Commercial projects such as Retail stores, Medical Facilities, Church, Banking, High end office interiors or Restaurant renovations. Having over twenty five years experience permitting, estimating, constructing and supervising Light Commercial & Retail Tenant Improvement projects. Being an accomplished finish carpenter capable of many Lt. Commercial carpentry duties, I can often minimize the time and cost of on site revisions, and omissions.

EDUCATION: BS Business Bachelors from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. Completed Construction Management classes thru C.A.F. at Purdue/Calumet University, N.W. Indiana campus. Attended also Adult Education Course on home electrical wiring. Attended and completed Dupont Corian, and Wilson Art solid surface school for installers and fabricators. OSHA 10 hr safety course 2007.

Familiar with daily reports, RFIs, inspection requests, building Landlord and Mall Management relationships, MEP coordination, weekly meetings, two week look ahead schedules, CPM scheduling, Internet, Word, excel, Quickbooks and RS Means for estimating. Will consider short term construction Superintendent/ Management contract.

Experience: 05/2004 to present- Worked for several general contractors in Chicago-land area doing light commercial Retail, Medical, Bank and Church carpentry projects and acting as the onsite superintendent for various Ground up and High quality Interior Mall Retail Renovation projects. Solicited Trades, Scheduled Subs, performed many carpentry duties. Interacted with Architect, client and Mall Management daily.

08/1987 to 05/2004 Self- employed owner of the George W Rodgers Const Co Inc. Highland, Indiana, a light commercial Retail, Medical, and office Tenant Improvement General Contractor. I did Blueprint, design, bid, permit, contract, and supervise to completion interior remodeling projects in shopping centers, health care, and industrial facilities. I have completed over 70 Tenant Improvement projects here in the Midwest, for such customers as Sears, Jenny Craig, Sylvans Learning, Insure One, Funcoland, The Diagnostic Center, NWI Federal Credit Union, Wachovia & WoodForest Banks, Rush Hospital, YWCA, Liquid carbonic and others. In 2001 & 2003 I did design and build two unique (sustainable & environmentally correct) residential homes that incorporated many light commercial means & methods to build residential housing. Some of the products used were I.C.F.s (insulated concrete forms), metal studs, TJIs & Advantech flooring, and a new structural face brick exterior system. Homes were featured in the Hammond Times and Chicago Tribune newspapers. This building system has many light commercial capabilities and merits applicable to small Churches, Medical offices, Bank Buildings etc.

Additional: This past year I have just completed a Ground up Fifth-Third Bank in South Chicago. Two Retail Store Build-Outs in Southlake Mall, a Plato’s Closet (retail store)in a strip center, and Two Sprint cellular Retail store renovations.

After 25 years of running and working light commercial projects here in the Midwest, I can bring a wealth of hard earned knowledge to your jobsite. Quality, safety and customer satisfaction has always been foremost in my job supervision. I am at my best when coordinating complex and difficult commercial remodeling projects.
