WJ Communications is the commercial products descendent of Watkins-Johnson Company. Watkins-Johnson Company, founded in 1957, designed and manufactured quality microwave components, subsystems, and systems for the defense marketplace for four decades.

The project: CBS (Carobar Business Solutions), a part of Calibrated Group provides services like processing data, managing web content, providing information, or delivering on-line services to customers of the client. CBS-WJ venture has the task of working on Business Operation tools, processes, web projects, Sales efficiency project and various strategic Marketing projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Involved in the project since the start. Major role in understanding the ongoing sales processes and understanding the requirement of the client.

Responsible for maintaining the Sales Efficiency project and coordination with other projects to ensure proper functioning of all the projects simultaneously.

The project involved consolidation & organization of the data of Spectrum Settlement Recovery, San Francisco, the largest claim recovery firm of the nation.

The Visa Check/MasterMoney Antitrust Litigation is a class action lawsuit that was filed and litigated in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn, New York. The Class consists of all businesses and organizations in the United States that accepted Visa and MasterCard debit and credit cards for payment at any time during the period October 25, 1992 to June 21, 2003. The Class Plaintiffs claimed that, through their “Honor All Cards” policies, Visa and MasterCard forced merchants to accept Visa and MasterCard signature debit card transactions at supracompetitive prices. The merchants also claimed that Visa and MasterCard were attempting to monopolize the debit card business in the United States. In April 2003, just as the trial was about to begin, Visa and MasterCard settled with the plaintiffs' Class. As part of the settlement, Visa and MasterCard agreed to eliminate their “Honor All Cards” policies, to lower debit card fees for an interim period by one-third and other conditions including the payment of claim amount.

To assist in distributing the proceed of the settlement to all eligible Class Members, Lead Counsel and the Court have authorized The Garden City Group, Inc. ("GCG") to act as Claims Administrator.

At Calibrated the team was responsible for entry and analysis of the claims decided by the Claims Administrator.

Job Resposibilities:

1. Analysis of the reports prepared by the Claims Administrator and check the accuracy of the claim. This involved thorough understanding of the formulaes applied for the calculations made, calculation of the deviation from previous analysis.

2. Analysis of the process at input level as well as output level

Thorough Analysis of the data received and compilation of the data to be entered.

Further analysis of the entered data to confirm the accuracy of data to be delivered.

3. Maintain communication with the partnership firm outside India.

Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation working on issues of public interest in sectors such as consumer rights, competition and investment, trade and economics, women and child empowerment, etc. CUTS has seven centers in India and three outside India, one each in Zambia, Kenya and UK.

The overall objective of the project GRANITE (Grassroots Reachout and Networking in India on Trade and Economics) is to build the long-term capacity of grassroots civil society organisations and local media to address complex issues of globalisation and the WTO (World Trade Organisation), and their relationship with economic development and governance in India. The project is being implemented in eight states across India i.e. Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

The ongoing activities under the project include providing upward and downward linkages with the grassroots (through CSOs) to convey their views and concerns to policy-makers at the state, national and international levels, assuring at least two pro-poor changes to be made in the National Foreign Trade Policy of India, the establishment of a National Trade Policy Council (NTPC) and State Trade Policy Council (STPC) in at least six out of eight states CUTS is working on.
