Under the general supervision of the Pharmacokinetics Laboratory Supervisor, the Research Laboratory Technician performs laboratory procedures such as blood harvesting and urine monitoring according to protocol as assigned. Special Skills

I am skilled in the use of all major laboratory equipment including but not limited to: autoclaves, spectrophotometers, Bunsen burners, hot plates, petri dishes, preparing media of all kinds, thermocyclers, micropipettes, microscopes – both light and dark field as well as fluorescent microscopes. I have experience collecting specimens in the field. I am motivated and very diligent when it comes to work, never leaving a job half finished. My technique when dealing with bacteria are safe and thorough. I have been known to teach those around how to do things if they are unaware. My communication skills are very good. I am outspoken and truthful. My desire to learn and expand my knowledge drives me to be a quick learner in any new situation. Through college classes and laboratory time, I have experience with organismal biology, functional biology, microbial physiology and genetics, genetics, evolution, virology, immunology, ecology, microbial ecology, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and general microbiology. I have experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, having used them throughout my college career and even before that to a large extent in High school. I am a member of The American Society for Microbiology, and use it to maintain my knowledge or current events and new developments in the world of microbiology on a daily basis.

Assisted the Emergency Room technicians and nurses with upkeep and cleaning the emergency room and making sure things ran smoothly and efficiently for anyone who had to make a visit. Responsible for moving specimens to and from different wings of the hospital, sterilizing and cleaning hospital beds, relaying information to those that needed it, stocking the supply room, and giving visitors information about the hospital in general while they were there.
