Engineer San Diego, California
Tim Knocker, T.A.A.G Industries April 2017- Present
• Produced equipment checklists for sheet metal fabrication machines to ensure they met safety requirements
• Developed procedures to test that a machine is in proper working condition to improve customer satisfaction
• Prepared 3D models in SolidWorks of the sheet metal fabrication machines
• Updated instructions manuals with new designs and made parts lists and bill of materials
• Assisted the new floor manager during transition to make sure the business continued to run smoothly Engineer San Diego, California
D.R.E.W. Fab June 2015- December 2015
• Developed a custom 4 link suspension design for a customer’s 1981 CJ7 Jeep
• Manufactured tie rod, steering arms, and various other suspension components using machine tools
• Conceptualized designs for custom tire rack and cooler rack with corresponding geometry
• Fabricated tubing and tack welded assembly. Finished the project on time and under budget Projects
• Pacific Nautilus: Designed a new RoboSub model for the Mechatronics competition through SPAWAR. Used ANSYS CFD simulations in order to test out our RoboSub’s aerodynamic design. Prepared engineering drawings for fabrication out of polycarbonate.
• Electrical Engineering Senior Design project: Designed in SolidWorks an apparatus to drop poker chips when given the command through an arduino. 3D printed prototypes of the design to test functionality. Prepared and assembled 3D printed pieces onto car a month before the deadline.
• Senior Design Project: Formula 1 Inspired Motorized Tricycle: Utilized SolidWorks to model Independent Rear Suspension System including pushrods, rocker arms, and shocks to fully articulate through cycling. Performed component stress analysis simulations to establish the design’s practicality. Prepared manufacturing plans for fabrication using the water jet cutter as well as a tube bender and mill.
