SIGNIFICANT CAREER ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Worked with the Board of Directors to turn around a floundering Hawaiian master planned community with significant improvement of customer service, dramatic reduction of operational expenses, long range planning, and facilitation of substantial increase in both volunteer involvement and customer satisfaction.

Led and facilitated a successful collaborative volunteer peer task force in 1999 to reorganize the structure of CAI’s national organization to provide increased operational efficiency and improved customer service.

Hosted a national CAI Manager’s Workshop in 2006 for 100+ senior level large scale community managers.

Worked with the Desert Mountain Board of Directors to successfully transition a large master-planned community from developer control, significantly improving customer service, resident involvement, and cost effectiveness in the process. Also worked with the Board on an ongoing basis to further improve customer service by:

Launching a profitable in-house licensed and bonded concierge-style handyman business;

Providing EMT Training to our Security Patrol Program effectively saving four lives from 2012 to 2014;

Planning, construction, & management of a fifteen mile private trail system (funded 100% by donations);

Adding a state of the art community-wide security, video network, and internal communications system;

Authoring a quarterly coffee-table-quality magazine (100% funded by advertising) to provide transparent Board communication to members on all issues and address key issues in the community.

Worked successfully with the Rancho Santa Fe Board of Directors to restructure, modernize, retool, and re-staff an antiquated community association that included armed security, golf, tennis, and equestrian operations.

INDUSTRY AWARDS

Recognized as the 1997 CAI National “Educator of the Year” for work as a volunteer instructor of manager designation and management continuing education classes.

Recognized as the 1998 CAI National “Author of the Year” for ground breaking work in the area of “community building”. This involved shifting the focus of the association management industry from a primary focus on asset management to more of a community service perspective. Served as a Contributing Editor for CAI’s National CommonGround magazine from 1999 to 2010.

Recognized by CAI National in 2007 for “Outstanding Volunteer Achievement” for a variety of leadership projects, speaking engagements, and National Conference / Workshop contributions from 2002 – 2007.
