Advanced Support Technician

Manual assembly and soldering of surface-mount prototype electronic assemblies including fine-pitch ICs, passive components as small as 0402 size; rework and parts replacement.

Cable assemblies terminated with circular connectors made by Bulgin, Binder, Amphenol, both crimp-type and solder cup; RF coax cables terminated with BNC, Type N, and SMA connectors; connector potting.

Sensor board wiring which involved substantial mechanical modifications of connectors attached to the sensor boards.

Complex mechanical, electrical and electronic rework of Wind Profiler Radar components.

Box build and wiring.

Review and update engineering documentation of electronic assemblies including assembly drawings, schematics, and BOMs.

Telecom Network and Digital Transceiver surface-mount PC bd. rework including manual removal and replacement of surface-mount electrolytic capacitors, 0603-size ceramic capacitors and resistors, through-hole inductors, and fine-pitch ICs. From schematics and written and verbal instructions, assemble "kludge" circuits to be incorporated into main circuit. Post rework programming of completed PC bd. assemblies per written instructions. Post manufacturing hand placement and soldering of various surface-mount components including headers, capacitors, resistors, standard and fine-pitch ICs, etc. Cut traces and run jumpers with 30AWG wire.

Manual assembly, soldering, and rework of prototype surface mount PC bds. including hand desoldering and replacement of ultra-fine pitch surface mount active devices, and passive components as small as 0402 size. Complex rework and modifications to boards, cables, wiring harnesses, etc., from schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions. Build cables terminated with various types of connectors including Mil.-Spec. circular connectors, rectangular connectors, crimp-pin connectors, coaxial connectors, etc. Fabrication and mechanical assembly of chassis, enclosures and panels with a drill press and hand tools. Order parts and tools, run errands and maintain electronic lab supplies and parts inventory for 12 engineers.
