March 1979 to August 2009 Supreme Court, Criminal Branch, New York, NY
(Retired) Spanish Interpreter
Duties Include: Translating for defendants, witnesses and
their families, answering phones and informing people where
they need to be in the courthouse, advising families of the
outcome of the judge’s decision as well as the correctional
institution they will be sent to.
VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
1982 to 2002 Founded and directed Independent Recreation for the
Disabled; provided monthly trips for disabled adults including
access services such as accessible buses for wheelchair users;
Sign language interpreters and information in accessible
format. Also, director and coordinator for volunteers, teach
volunteers how to help disabled adults. In 2003, we expanded
our program to help people in their own homes with reading
mail, shopping and running small errands. We changed our
name to Helping Hands for the Disabled of NYC.
1975 to 1985 Disabled in Action helped provide materials in Accessible
format such as Braille, large print and cassette tape to make it
possible for blind persons to learn what was going on in the
disabled community.
