In charge of, managed and oversaw the entire Operations related activities - Marine, Terminal, Procurement and handling of Hazardous Materials - of all ZIM operated, owned and/or chartered, vessels in all the ports of North, Central

(including the Caribbean basin) and South America. Ø Responsible for the Operations budget of over $600 millions. Ø Supervise a total of over 60 persons in the headquarters and the various ports call.

Ø I headed and led the negotiations teams dealing with all operational services providers in the various ports.

Ø Initiated and contributed to the design and development of a computer system for the optimization of vessels’ time in port, leading to savings of over $15 millions annually.

Ø Improved and directed the keeping of vessels‘ port Operations at highest efficiency and lowest possible costs, resulting in savings of over $50 millions annually.

Ø Developed and implemented a unique coordination system leading to maximizations of the vessels‘ loadability.

General Manager,

North America Coordination Center, ICA c/o ZIM. New York NY 1997 - 2001. Managed and supervised the Operations related activities of all vessels of a joint shipping venture between six major global ocean carriers for the ICA service between the East Coasts of North and South America. Managed a team of about five persons responsible for all the Marine Operations related activities within North and Central America, of three steamship services and their related feeders, a total of forty container and multi purpose vessels, as well as a fleet of dry Bulk Carriers in the global tramp shipping. This entailed direct management of a Planning and Operations team, combined with daily contact with Port Captains, Terminal operators and Stevedoring companies in over fifteen ports. Obtained my Master Mariner license in 1978, and was appointed for my first command in 1980. As a Master I was in command of different type of vessels including Bulk Carriers, Tankers, General Cargo ships, Multi Purpose, Ro-Ro and Container vessels.
