Mechanical Engineer
Motivated recent graduate in mechanical engineering with a focus on mechanical design and testing. Interested in starting a career in the aerospace industry as entry level Mechanical Design Engineer. Previous experience with design engineering and product development with considerable knowledge in:
• Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS)
• Vibrations Analysis
• Thermal Analysis
• Solid Modeling (Solidworks)
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Graduated May 2017
Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ GPA 3.37/4.0
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
ASU, Senior Capstone Design Project - Test Engineer 08/2016 – 05/2017
Acting test engineer in a team of six to design an off-road suspension seat that increased comfort to the rider.
Achieved an acceleration reduction of 30% in the vertical direction while staying under budget and coast.
Managed and lead product validation and testing by designing a testing rig and detail testing procedures.
Constructed a data acquisition system using an Arduino microcontroller board and inertial measurement units saving time and money during product validation.
Acquired data at a data sampling rate of 1000 Hz, and analyzed it using MATLAB to optimize the system’s parameters.
Defined optimal shock parameters for the system and exceeded target acceleration reductions by 25%.
ASU, Finite Element Design Project 01/2016 – 05/2017
Was the design engineer in team of five tasked to prevent crack propagation in a notched plexiglass plate.
Investigated and took much attention to detail in determining and applying realistic loading and boundary conditions to simulation in a FEA program (ANSYS).
Validated each condition using convergent tests in ANSYS to ensure reliable results from.
Manufactured a specimen and measured actual strain values and then compared to the FEA models.
Utilized education experience by improving the load capacity of the specimen from 70 to 130 lbs.
ASU, Design of Experiment 08/2016 – 12/2016
Designed and implemented testing procedures to calculate the coefficient of performance for a thermoelectric device.
Designed a LabVIEW program to measure all physical quantities including currents and temperatures.
Built a circuit to restrict the voltage to an allowable range LabVIEW could detect.
Conducted multiple experiments and analyzed data to propose an optimal current to be used for the thermoelectric device.
