PROJECT DETAILS
Title:”Data Mining-Feature subset Selection and Classification of Microarray Data”. Description: Bone Marrow Cancer is one of the critical diseasesin human beings.Even the physician could not able to diagnosis the disease accurately.Therefore Microarraybased gene expression profiling is efficiently used in cancer diagnosis and treatment .This project classifies the gene expression data collected from different samples into Malignant and Benign.Here Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia(ALL) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia
(AML)microarray datasets.Initially the dataset with all gene expression considered for classification and the classification accuracy is obtained based on the classifiers such as Support Vector Machine(SVM),K-NearestNeighbor(KNN) and NaiveBayes Classification.From the result it is inferred, Hence, in order to overcome the curse of dimensionality problem, this project utilizes the statisticaland meta heuristics based methods namely Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and firefly algorithm respectively. Then the experiments are conducted in ‘R studio’ with two different datasets namely ALL .From the experimental result, the performance of the classifier is improved after feature selection. Naive Bayes classifier yields high classification accuracy for both ANOVA and firefly algorithm.
