EMPLOYMENT
May 2016 to Current VOICES Web Developer
Remote / New York, NY
Voices helps advocacy groups change the way group members take action. Enabling people to call, tweet, or email their elected officials together in a coordinated action is a more effective way to lobby government.
I was brought on the team to help build an admin dashboard that advocacy groups can use to compose calls to actions that are scheduled and delivered to the mobile applications of the devices of their followers. I re-designed the entire UX/UI, using material design, through an iterative process with the CEO. I then converted the approved designs to pixel perfect HTML and CSS, and connected it to the Rails Back-End. I have written routing logic on the back end to fulfill UX design, mailers and jobs that are processed asynchronously using Sidekiq, and custom authentication logic using Devise. I wrote all the feature tests in the Gherkin Syntax for the application using Capybara and Rspec . I also deploy builds to our staging and production environments on heroku. Features I have implemented include: User Authentication and Session Management, Advocacy Group Onboarding feature, Composition and Management of Call To Actions, and others.
Web Application Stack: Heroku, Postgres, Redis, Sidekiq, Rails, jQuery Jan 2017 to Current RESCUING LEFTOVER CUISINE Software Engineer (Internship) New York, NY
Rescuing Leftover Cuisine helps to solve the problem of food waste by working with restaurants across New York City to donate food to homeless shelters. Through their web application, volunteers can track and schedule food rescues, process donations, and manage volunteers schedules. During my time here, I refactored and fixed jQuery Validation code across the entire application I also created a landing page for one of the company's events, and added a section that features the company through media outlets. For each feature implemented I wrote accompanying tests with Cucumber and Capybara in accordance with the CEO's wish to focus on Test-Driven Development. The team primarily uses Trello, Pivotal Tracker, and Github to manage the workflow. The Web Application's stack includes Postgresql, Rails 4.1, and jQuery. The application is deployed on Heroku. Feb 2017 to May 2016 FIVESTONE Junior Web Developer (Internship) New York, NY
