Duties: Initially, responsible for assisting client with planning and implementation of FE’s “…until the 7th Generation” $7 million Capital Campaign. Final responsibility: corporate and foundation relations and special event fundraising.
Achievements:
Conducted and wrote campaign feasibility study and case statement, assisted with campaign visioning and goal setting, developed overall fundraising plan, and planned and implemented professional theater event. Also, wrote 15 grant submissions of which more than half were funded ranging from $200,000 to $10,000.

Duties: The President and CEO is (1) the chief administrative officer, (2) in cooperation with the board of directors, initiates and evaluates programs, efficiently and effectively; (3) hires and supervises Center staff, (4) ensures the efficient management of agency finances, (5) raises funds and (6) seeks opportunities to promote and strengthen Black Philanthropy.
Achievements: (1) Raised more than $6 million since the inception of the National Center to support Center programs. (2) Significantly elevated the national profile of African-American philanthropy through nation-wide conferences, attended by thousands, and broadcast and print media. (3) Instrumental in introducing new ideas in philanthropy and fundraising such as Endowment Development for African-American organizations, and Fundraising for Communities of Color.

Duties: Responsible for (1) developing, organizing and conducting workshops in fundraising and organizational management for NP organizations, (2) conducting management assessments and providing one-on-one management and fundraising consulting services, (3) evaluation of project.
Achievements: 40 nonprofit organizations involved in criminal justice and youth services successfully completed the program.
Director of Development
THE COMMUNICATIONS CONSORTIUM MEDIA CENTER, 1994 – 1995, Washington, DC, a media and communications company for nonprofit organizations
Duties: The Director of Development was primarily responsible (1) for writing grant proposals to support the agency’s progressive agenda, (2) working with the Executive Director, board members and other senior staff as necessary; (3) submitting reports to funders as necessary, and (4) maintaining fundraising records. My main function was to serve as part of a fundraising team composed of board members and senior staff.
Achievements: Successfully raised funds for operating purposes and the Consortium’s research and publications.
Director of Development
THE AFRICAN AMERICAN INSTITUTE, 1992 – 1994, New York, NY
NGO affiliated with the United Nations
Duties: As Director of Development, I was responsible for (1) developing a campaign for endowment and (2) fundraising to support an annual dinner event, usually held at the United Nations. My duties required working closely with the executive director, board members and senior staff; writing grant proposals and seeking individual gifts.
Achievements: My biggest achievement was increasing revenue for AAI’s annual dinner for two straight years, including by a nearly 50 percent gain in the second year.
Director of Development and Public Relations
JUDGE BAKER CHILDREN’S CENTER, 1986 – 1992, Boston, MA
An affiliate of Harvard Medical School and Boston Childrens Hospital
Duties: I was hired primarily to restart and complete a $2 million-dollar endowment campaign to support the Camille Cosby Center, an outpatient mental service for inner-city children. My duties also included redesigning and making profitable a major special event, the Camille Cosby World of Children Awards Gala.
Achievements: In concert with board members and senior staff, I successfully reorganized and completed the endowment campaign whose final total was about $2.25 million. I built up successful annual and planned giving program, while reducing expenses and increasing fundraising income, overall.

BOSTON UNIVERSITY, 1984 – 1986, Boston MA
Duties: Hired to help prepare the School of Social Work, School of Nursing and Commonwealth College to Participate in B.U.’s $200 million capital campaign.
Achievements: Helped establish school campaign committees, conducted prospect research and screenings, set-up solicitations and wrote grant proposals.
