Employment
10/2006-03/2017: Executive Director at Pan-African Community Association, Milwaukee, WI. Under the direction of Board of Directors, develop organizational capacity, including trainings for the Board; supervise outreach and direct services staff in program implementation; supervise budget management and fiscal responsibility; identify opportunities for diversified fund development for organizational sustainability and expand services to targeted population; cultivate community partnership; plan organizational and community events; devise new programs that address African and other refugee and immigrant needs.
1997-2006: Christian Formation Director -All Saints Catholic Church, Milwaukee, WI – Plan, implement and supervise religious education, sacramental preparation, RCIA/RCIC, ministry of young adults, senior ministry programs. Also plan and direct adult retreats, teach adult classes, coordinate and conduct workshops, chair committees; developed community outreach for the children of the incarcerated and their families, initiate and implement short and long-term projects for the stated programs and projects.
1995-1997: Youth Minister – Central City Parishes (All Saint & St. Martin de Porres) - Milwaukee, WI. Program activities included teaching confirmation and religious education classes, planning youth retreats, participating in leadership training workshops for youth, taking youth to local and national conferences, etc.
1987-1995: Director of Pastoral Ministry - Eritrean and Ethiopian immigrant/refugee community at Kidane-Mehret Ge’ez Rite Catholic Church, Washington, DC. Plan and implement culturally appropriate programs for the immigrant and refugee communities, especially, youth and children programs. Worked as a bridge between Eritrean and Ethiopian, politically polarized refugee communities, by focusing on common ground and interests.
