RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
University of Michigan Dearborn January 2015 – December 2016
Hardware in the loop Simulation project on hybrid vehicle- Advanced hybrid powertrain laboratory
Emulated electric vehicle’s powertrain using mathematical modelling on MATLAB/Simulink with dSPACE
Utilized test set-up to break down execution of vehicle/battery packs in various driving cycles
Built engine control (torque and speed mode) and secured information between dSPACE Small scale Auto Box (ace) and air conditioning acceptance engine controller (slave) utilizing CAN open convention
Established and aligned torque sensor, speed encoder and temperature sensor to accomplish coveted execution
Active Torque Vectoring (ATV)
Actualized Dynamic Front Differential and Dynamic Back Differential in the vehicle model to exhibit advantages of ATV (CarSim, MATLAB/Simulink)
Planned a control methodology for torque split by means of front differential and back differential to minimize yaw rate mistake while keeping the vehicle towards understeer
Fault Diagnosis of Vehicle Chassis system
Developed a fault detection and isolation strategy based on parity equation based approach, Kalman State estimator and unknown input observer
The proposed algorithm successfully detected steering actuator fault, yaw rate sensor fault, parametric fault of the system and any unknown input disturbances
Validated the proposed strategy using computer simulation (MATLAB/Simulink)
Simulation of Obstacle Avoidance Maneuver driver model
Implemented a driver model capable of avoiding obstacles based on fixed sight points along the road
Carried out sensitivity study on performance of the driver model for changes in tire parameters and various vehicle characterization test
Model was implemented and simulated in MATLAB-CarSim co-simulation environment
Osmania University, Hyderabad, India August 2010 – May 2014
Design and Fabrication of Variable Wheelbase Car (Undergrad Thesis)
Designed chassis retracting mechanism using co-axial tubes in chassis
Used ANSYS Workbench for mathematical modelling and structural analysis
Designed a concept for a car chassis which reduced traffic congestion and required less parking space
SAE BAJA INDIA’12
Engineered (Design and Fabrication of) a 1:1 scale All-terrain Vehicle
Developed a steering system with 180 lock to lock & designed a collapsible steering column
Cost report evaluation for manufacture components, modified components and assemblies
DESIGN AND SIMULATION (Frontal Crash Test) OF CAR BODY
Designed a car body in CATIA V5, created and maintained CAD model, drawings and BOM
Performed meshing in Hyper Mesh and conducted crash test analysis using ANSYS Workbench, where the model was made to collide with a hard object at variable speeds
INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE (3 YEARS)
TATA Motor Company, India July 2011– July 2014 R&D Engineer
Conducted virtual car chassis simulation tests - quality checks, functional clearance checks, and serviceability check of the of the TATA vehicles
Responsible for ensuring that the product meets design requirements
Conducted systems integration study - battery packaging simulation using Delmia and SpaceVision software
Troubleshot the front disc brake squeal issue in post-production
