Personal Trainer/ Pharmacist / Weight Loss /Nutrition – Dawgfitnessrx.com (Jan 2004- currently)
Located in Bogart, Ga., small private gym facility Fitness trainer, weight loss, nutrition counseling, medication counseling, strength and conditioning Self-Employed, this was started as a part time job into a full time job. This position was a unique one in that I was able to be a consulting pharmacist to monitor clients through their doctors and actually get them off some or all of their medication. This was particularly successful with type 2 diabetic clients. So, I was able to somewhat keep up with pharmacy in this way. I want everyone to understand that this was a very unconventional personal training position that incorporated medical and pharmaceutical expertise in helping these clients. Interestingly enough, there has actually been current research in this domain that very much gives this type of education and training much credibility. I think that having an unconventional hybrid background works well whether in LTC pharmacy or a conventional store. Type 2 is so rampant in this country, that the 2020 projections are 25-33% of the population will be affected. Right now there are 30 million Diabetics in the US and 85 million that are considered Pre-Diabetic. Norcross Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, Norcross,Ga. (June 2001- June 2004) Pharmacist/Store Manager

The main reason why I transitioned out of full time pharmacy in 2004 was that one of my twin sons was tragically killed in a car wreck. This affected my whole family immensely, so I transitioned into personal training (much better schedule) and started to help patients in that way. I feel now that it is time to use my background to help people by being a full time pharmacist again.
