A part to full time position in the science and technical field. My background and experience is veterinary and science technical I have a wide range of experience in a lab setting and would very much enjoy working in a non animal related position, learning some new things and finding some renewal and enjoyment in my work experience. I am interested in job flexibility and an encouraging, learning work environment. I am reliable, punctual, get along well with colleagues.

Over the years I have worked closely with veterinarians as well as physicians and PhD scientists. I work well in a team environment or independently with limited oversight. I can provide numerous references that can attest to my work ethic and skills.

Current Professional Experience

2009- March 2017 In Vivo Technician Performed duties related to in vivo work in rats and mice.

This included performance of survival surgery and microsurgery on rodents, developing and following complex scientific protocols, notebook keeping, data management and general lab management. I also performed a variety of bench procedures including 96 well plate assays on the plate reader, Beckman Coulter cell counter and the usual variety of centrifuges, pipettors, etc. Prepared reagents, maintained lab chemical inventory.

2007-2009 Integrated Neural Interface Project, Bioengineering Department, University of Utah

Responsible for the management of the lab staff and production of the Utah Electrode Array, using microfabrication techniques.

1993-2007 NPS Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

In-Vivo Services Manager, 1997 – 2007. Responsibilities included the development and management of the In-Vivo Core Group and the supervision of the group employees in addition to development and performance of innovative surgical models in rats and mice. Surgical models that I was responsible for developing at NPS included the 50% and 80% small bowel resection model for short bowel syndrome and bile duct catheterization and conscious collection of bile over 8 hours.

I began with the company in 1993 as an RA III performing in-vivo work including venous and arterial catheterization in rats, parathyroidectomies in rats and mice, ovx in rats, 5/6 nephrectomies in rats and various other surgical models, and necropsy in rats, mice, dogs. Several of the surgical models require the use of the operating microscope. Duties also included performing a variety of whole animal assays utilizing the surgical models produced.

I was a technician on a variety of research projects on which my responsibilities included performance of surgical procedures on dogs, sheep, goats, and rats. I Also performed chemical laboratory procedures and fabrication of prosthetics, ELISA assays, 96 well plate and plate reader assays, data collection, reduction and interpretation utilizing Excel and Prism Graph Pad, record and Notebook keeping, lab ordering and maintenance, SOP writing, IACUC administration.
