BRIEF DESCRIPTION The project is intended to develop a new 2 dimensional pentagonal element with 5 corner nodes and each node is having 2 DOFs. In this process we derived stiffness matrix and global load vectors for a pentagonal element. We have considered natural coordinates in deriving the Stiffness matrix.

We selected a model problem of regular pentagon. We evaluated stiffness matrix considering this as a single pentagonal element and the results are compared with Global stiffness matrix of the same pentagon by discretizing the regular pentagonal with 3 CST elements.
