Sr Controls Engineer

Completed four (4) DCS retrofit projects, converting from a Metso Platform to Emerson Ovation. Complete system reinstallation including cabinet rewiring and system reprogramming. Converted two plant FGD control systems from Modicon PLC to Emerson Ovation. Installed two plant High Fidelity simulators. Installed and configured three (3) Ovation Security Centers to help comply with the new NERC CIP regulations. Heavily involved with both NERC CIP and NERC 693 standards as it related to the Petersburg system configuration. Daily maintenance duties of DCS equipment to include approximately 80 network device (Routers, Switches, Firewalls) 90 Operator workstations and approxiatley 120 controllers. Duties include following all plant safety requirements, MOC (Management of Change) processes. Very hands on type engineer, involved heavily in the day to day operation and maintenance duties required, such as loop tuning, control logic modifications, graphic modifications. Ovation Process Historian report building, EDS update and maintenance duties. Responsible for OSI PI system maintenance, GE MKVI turbine control system troubleshooting and modifications. GSE High Fidelity Simulator troubleshooting and maintenace for two simulators. Ovation Security Center maintenance and up keep for three Ovation Security Centers. Overall responsible for the plant DCS network infrastructure, both fiber and copper networks. Configure and secure all network/DCS data links to multiple vendor types of equipment.

Control System Engineer/Administrator

In this role I was responsible for control system engineering and administrative change management. To include, the development of new HMI graphics and existing graphic modifications. Control strategy and philosophy changes. Alarm management changes, to insure adherence to plant alarm management philosophy. Data link configuration and maintenance, utilizing Modbus TCP and Matikon OPC links to all plant auxiliary equipment.

Project management responsibilities include, project specification creation, proposal review and economic justification for all plant control system modifications. Some of the larger projects that I was involved with include, a complete DCS system re-installation after a control system fire. A WDPF to Ovation conversion for (15) redundant controllers. A TRAX simulator upgrade and conversion, an environmental upgrade to include both a Fabric Filter addition and a Dry Flue Gas Desulfurization addition.
