Project Details
Name: Design and manufacturing of cardiovascular stent
Description: The study includes the different designs, analysis and manufacturing technique of stent. Stent is one of the great invention to overcome the coronary Heart diseases (CHD). Stent is expandable meshed tube of biocompatible material which holds the structure open for free circulation of oxygen rich blood to activate desired function of heart. Stent reduces the narrowing of arteries that occurs after balloon angioplasty. The various design parameters of coronary stents viz. structure, geometry and dimensions are studied. The finite element analysis has been carried out to investigate critical region and parameters in perspective of efficient mechanical performance for designed stent. Photo-Chemical Machining is essentially an accelerated, controlled corrosion and cost effective non-conventional micromachining process is used to manufacture a cardiovascular stent. It entails the use of chemical medium (etchant) to dissolve mainly metal substrate in selective manner.
