SUMMARY:

Highly Skilled, Versatile Test Engineer with 35 years’ experience as an individual contributor. Extensive experience in test development and product release, both in U.S. and global facilities. Developed product characterization tests and production-optimized test suites using lab equipment, rack-and-stack bench test sets, and LTX and Teradyne/ Eagle automated test equipment (ATE) for analog, mixed signal, digital, DSP, power, and RF products. Developed and documented test procedures, and statistically analyzed them, for accuracy, repeatability, and stability to confirm test and product performance over a wide range of operational conditions and temperatures (-55C<Tc<125C). Produced Gauge R&R reports, Six Sigma regression for normally distributed limits and trim parameter 1 Sigma limit setting.

Seasoned Manager with 10+ years’ experience overseeing test engineering teams of onsite and remote members who collaborated with partner test teams.

Talented Trainer and Mentor to subordinates and peers alike, one-on-one and in classroom settings. Taught courses lasting up to 8 days (64 hours). Author of numerous conference and customer education papers on power test techniques, mixed-signal test theory, mixed-signal test mathematics, and test techniques.

PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Texas Instruments: Led teams through major transitions (e.g., the acquisition of National Semiconductor by Texas Instruments in September 2011) that required integrating new processes, managing the expansion of an existing test development lab, and acquiring/upgrading new test and support equipment to facilitate compatibility with new test infrastructure requirements. Successfully positioned and advocated for my direct reports (2 project engineers, 6 test development engineers, and 3 technicians) to receive major recognition, promotions, and membership on technical teams reserved for the highest performers. Contributed as individual contributor by implementing numerous integrated circuit test development projects.

National Semiconductor: Project manager that designed and conducted checkout of integrated circuit test hardware and software. Managed test and product development teams for high-voltage/high-current switching power supply and controller integrated circuits (included products >100V input V, 2A output current and 20V input, 10A single channel IC output current). Designed and conducted checkout of ATE test software used for testing the above-mentioned devices. Performed optimization, correlation, and statistical analysis of test performance. Developed original test techniques to optimize and improve reliability and efficiency of test processes.

LTX: Provided RF applications support in San Diego for the LTX Fusion CX IC test system, including development of specific RF test applications. Designed a hardware/software scheme that demonstrated specific features of the LTX Fusion test system to both internal and customer engineers, plus numerous test systems for complex digital, analog, mixed signal, and RF devices. Developed radio frequency power amplifier (RFPA) test application for 802.11A Power amplifier, including RF broadband measurements in the presence of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation. Supported and developed tests for Receive/Transmit (RX/TX) RF devices. Provided mixed signal/power application support to Motorola Imaging division, including development of 2 original turnkey device test applications. Wrote numerous users conference and customer education papers on subjects including power test techniques, mixed signal test theory, mathematics, and test techniques. Taught an eight-day course to LTX personnel that covered mixed-signal and RF test theory, terminology, common practices, and test techniques.

Hughes: Over 14 years, I demonstrated my technical proficiency in testing numerous technologies (digital, power, RF, analog, and mixed signal), and managing projects and test organizations. My ability to continuously grow and improve also resulted in regular promotions.
