201-***-****

*** ****** ***., ***. ** Summit, NJ 07901

2017: I help market and manage a stable of classical music artists, composers and conductors. I write press releases, manage calendars, pitch media and orchestras for a boutique public relations agency. I help handle payments, appearances and train some clients on how to present themselves and their music to members of the media.

1987-2016: Edited six books, including three best sellers, and newspaper and magazine articles. Those books include: “Barbarians at the Gate,” “The Big Rich,” “Public Enemies,” “Dragonfly” and “Vendetta.” Ran the business of a successful journalist including billing for payment, expense accounting and tax information as well as helping to schedule speeches and appearances. I helped brand and market him as the success he is today.

2015-2016: Ghost writing a book on real estate and investing in New Jersey and another on stories from the trenches of matrimonial law in New York. Conceived websites and social media campaigns to promote both books.

2012: Created the templates for a web-based daily hyper-local newsletter. Discovered a void in local coverage of events and news and created the sardonic voice of all policies and the idea that it would be written as if it were information from the gossipy, funny know-it-all neighbor. Wrote the legal disclaimers, advertising policy, terms of use, submissions and comments policy and got the copyright for the idea.

2005-2016: Started a college essay assistance business that guided high school juniors and seniors to write their college-entrance essays. Helped students find their inner voice and the ideas to write convincing and interesting essays to help them gain admittance to many of their first-choice colleges and wrote resumes and cover letters that made clients rise to the top of the applicant piles.

2004-2005: Conceived a public relations campaign for a local non-profit child-care organization that got it coverage in local and state publications. Helped brand the organization and created a new name and profile before the local chapter of the YMCA bought it. Wrote fundraising pieces, donor letters and helped write speeches for the president of the organization.

2002-2007: Created and designed a monthly newsletter for a private school that became the template for all future communications. Chaired annual fundraising committees and helped produce public relations pieces. Helped raise Far Brook School’s visibility and profile in New Jersey.

2001-2003: Wrote articles and press releases for the Reeves Reed Arboretum that were published in local and national publications.

1989-1994: Edited AirCommerce, a magazine for the Journal of Commerce. Conceived content, assigned stories, edited stories, created illustrations and arranged photography from staff and from freelancers in the United States and abroad about a wide range of air transportation issues. Created a conference to help increase advertising revenue for the magazine. Staffed and planned the event and managed advertising representatives from major national and international concerns.

1987-1989: Edited stories, wrote headlines and designed all the pages for the American Banker.

1983-1985: Editor of one of the Austin American-Statesman’s weekly entertainment magazines and edited daily copy and designed pages for the life/style section.

1981-1983: Wrote daily stories and took pictures for the Pine Bluff bureau of the Arkansas Democrat and later worked on the copy desk at the paper’s headquarters in Little Rock. I interviewed Bill and Hillary Clinton several times, interviewed Jerry Lee Lewis and his groupies, wrote a gripping well-received series of articles about teenage pregnancy in the state, wrote a series of articles about abused women who killed their husbands and covered local meetings, the courts and everything interesting in Southeast Arkansas.

My passions include volunteering for causes I endorse. I have worked for several soup kitchens in Newark since 2000. I have worked at St. Ann’s for the past 12 years, generally on the first Saturday of the month. My college roommate told me that to whom much is given, much is expected. This has had a tremendous influence on my family. My oldest teaches troubled students in junior high and high school in San Antonio, TX and my youngest is in charge of philanthropy for his college fraternity.

Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri, the best undergraduate journalism school at the time, 1981.
