Types of products manufactured included fasteners (pins, collars, nuts), hard and soft tooling, ground support equipment, production flight hardware for military and commercial aerospace, launch vehicles, vertical launch systems, heat exchangers for naval vessels, fabrication and machining of heavy machine tool components (machine beds, columns, spindle head housings), and aircraft duct assemblies.

Served 5 active years in the United States Marine Corps as a powerplant mechanic on F4-Phantom J79-8 ramjet engines. Attended various airframe and powerplant schools while on active duty. Attained rank of Corporal. Received Honorable discharge upon completion of active service.

Selected Accomplishments,

Performed duties of SPC Administrator, fabrication supervisor, quality engineer, welding engineer, and manufacturing engineer over a period of 25 years.

Successfully applied statistical techniques on welding, assembly and CNC machining processes (short and long run) resulting in increased production while at the same time using fewer resources.

Developed and implemented welder training program per Mil-Std-248D. Conducted training and administered written and oral examinations for welders and inspectors. Topics included use of specifications, visual inspection for discontinuities, blueprint reading, weld symbols, and documentation.

Developed and implemented statistical programs to meet requirements of AS 9100 Rev. C, ISO 9000-2000, and Boeing D1-9000 AQS. Responsible for all aspects (procedures, documentation, training, implementation, assignment of departmental responsibilities).

Developed and implemented continuous sampling plans in accordance with Boeing D1-8007F for CNC machined parts and precision jig fixtures. Inspection time on production flight hardware was reduced by more than 85% while still maintaining 100% customer acceptance.

Developed and prepared monthly scrap and rework reports to monitor and analyze effectiveness of preventive measures taken. Pareto and cause-and-effect diagrams used to identify best targets for improvement.

Developed company quality procedures for control of nonconforming product, corrective and preventive action, and statistical techniques meeting ISO 9000-2000, Boeing D1-9000A AQS, and AS 9100 Rev. B requirements.

Implemented a thermal effects program per Boeing drawing document 149A02300 for precision CNC machining in uncontrolled environments in an effort to minimize variation caused by the thermal expansion of metals. Efforts resulted in reducing process variation.

Developed and implemented Measurement Uncertainty procedure to meet NADCAP requirements for in house calibration of measuring equipment.

Oct 2016 - Feb 2017: Mattco Forge Inc., Paramount, CA - Quality Engineer: Responsible for PPAP approvals for Pratt & Whitney. Included process flows (from receiving material to shipping), PFMEA, control plans, process capability studies, gage R&R’s/MSA, implementing SPC, and FAI to AS9102. Also responsible for NCP’s (non-conforming product reports) root cause investigation, corrective/preventive action implementation. Presented bi-weekly quality meetings to management and blacksmiths reviewing scrap & rework costs. Pareto types of defects, numbers of each defect, costs of defects to target areas for improvement.

May 2016-August 2016: Arrowhead Products, Los Alamitos, CA – Quality Engineer for “Metals” plant. Main duties consist of root cause analysis and process improvement using DMAIC and 8D methods. Creation and implementation of action plans related to process improvement activities.

2012-2016: Monogram Aerospace Fasteners, Commerce, CA – SPC Coordinator/Quality Engineer: responsible for entire SPC program. Included all training, database maintenance, capability studies, gage R&R’s, chart selection and analysis, reports to management, supplier flow down of SPC. Have over ten years experience using InfinityQS software with applications of SPC on fasteners (pins, collars, nuts) on Miyanos, Eubamas, Tsugamis, Euroturns, Acmes, Okumas, Headers, centerless grinders, thread rollers, Brown & Sharpe, oval lock machines, CNC mills and lathes. Familiar with Boeing specifications with regards to fasteners and SPC. Responsible for Certified Operator Program.
