Team Lead, Scrum Master, Release manager (Nov 2016 – June 2017)

Led a team of 6 offshore Smalltalk developers responsible for enhancing FPL’s customer care application used by the FPL call center agents. The application is a client server application with a Smalltalk GUI front end, and a Main Frame backend. Duties included: working with business to prioritize enhancements and scheduling releases, guiding offshore developers in their analysis and design, gathering status through Agile standups, managing the code base, doing design and code reviews, building the release images, working with various stake holders to schedule testing and deployment, managing the deployment of a release. Successfully delivered two releases. FPL terminated contract as a result of budget pressures.

Northern Natural Gas (NNG), Omaha, NE, Houston, TX

Senior Developer Analyst (Feb 2010 – Apr 2013, Feb 2014 – April 2016)

Provided application development support, and technical business and data analysis for NNG’s supply chain management application used for the supply chain management of natural gas. The application is a distributed object oriented application originally written in Smalltalk, with a SQL server backend, and interfaces with other Java applications via SOAP and XML. The development methodology followed was primarily Agile.

Design/Development:

oEnhanced the application to support various new requirements often mandated by FERC. Development involved extensive data analysis using SQL to find appropriate test data and for analyzing the existing code base.

oDesigned an algorithm for removing loops in the nomination network. The validity of the loop removal algorithm was established by proving theorems to that effect.

Technical Business/Data Analysis: Wrote requirement documents, for the more complex areas of TMS, for Java developers who are rewriting this Smalltalk application in Java.

Provided application development support for PCG’s supply chain management application linking retailers and suppliers. The application is a web application with a Smalltalk middle tier, and an Oracle back end. Worked on various enhancements to the current system.

Senior Developer Analyst (Nov 2008 – Oct 2009)

Provided application development support for IO, the trading, and supply chain management application used by the refined products traders and schedulers at Shell. The application is a client server application with a Smalltalk client and an Oracle back end with some Java and XML components. The application also interfaced with a OpenLink Endur risk management system. Worked with the traders and schedulers and the risk management team, in the in the development of enhancements.
