Re: Application Scientist

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing in efforts to summarize my educational, professional, and life experiences in hopes to show that I will be an active and effective part of W3R’s community. In May 2017, I graduated from The University of Colorado at Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Biochemistry and have been supporting myself financially through school without any assistance. On top of being a student, I worked 25 hrs/wk as a security guard, and 15 hrs/wk conducting research at the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute (RASEI) in Professor Michael Marshak’s lab. I also worked 40+ hrs/wk at Wells Fargo for 1.5 years, saving money to put myself through school. I came to CU-Boulder with the intentions of participating in cutting-edge research in renewable energy and hopefully starting a career in the science and technology field post- graduation. Fortunately, I had the opportunity of working on a project that focused on the synthesis and characterization of main group organometallic materials for application in organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs), organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), and other optoelectronic devices. In this wet chemistry lab, I learned how to work independently, efficiently, and safely, along with gaining experience in synthetic and analytical chemistry techniques such as HPLC, UV-Vis, FTIR, NMR, XRD, etc. Four years of juggling a full-class course load, working in a research lab, and paying for my own bills, rent, and other needs has taught me many skills that not many college graduates possess. I realize there are many very intelligent and capable graduates on the job market that I am competing with, but I find myself different in many regards. Most importantly, perhaps, is my ability to communicate my thoughts and ideas very calmly, clearly, and effectively. Having worked in a variety of professions from banking, to building management, to research and development, I have learned through experience how to Camille K. Amador

communicate complex ideas, as well as how communication is a dynamic approach that varies between situation, persons involved, and content of discussion. I also pride myself in being an extremely hard worker. As I have been working since I was 13 I have learned that nothing will be handed to me. I believe everything acquired is better and more rewarding when earned. Another huge factor in my work ethic is my gratefulness to the company giving me the opportunity to work. Seeing many people struggle trying to find a decent job just to makes ends meet motivates me to work hard for the job I have. From this, I have always had a strong desire to pay my thanks by giving all of my effort every day I go to work.

As a chemist at W3R, my goal is to continue to apply the techniques and trainings I have learned at CU-Boulder in a new research environment, as well as expand upon my understanding of other analytical and chemical techniques with respect to QA, QC, R&D, SOP, and GMP. Along with gaining more research experience, I hope to expand my network of colleagues and directors, as I have with faculty and staff at RASEI. This position as an analytical chemist will allow me to gain additional real-world experience in the field I plan to pursue and collaborate with industrial partners, scientists, and engineers. After my research experience at CU-Boulder, I cannot think of a more suiting next-step to take to meet my professional goals and personal interests. What I ask is for the opportunity to prove my abilities as a fast learner, a diligent worker, and an enjoyable coworker. I know that I will be a great asset to W3R, if given the chance. I hope this letter effectively summarized my excitement, competence, and need to join the work force.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,

Camille K. Amador
