Baker Hughes Inc. 2003-2010

Technical Support & Technology Transfer Engineer, Houston Technology Center (HTC)

Tested new software and hardware (Internal or 3rd Party). Assisted Design Engineers to field test new products. Found solutions to and offer best practice to resolve field operation problems. Advised Engineers with weak points in products and gave ideas for product improvement. Fault finding and root cause analysis of hardware problems to help reduce the frequency rate of occurrence of failure and to improve field performance. Liaise and worked with 3rd party providers to resolve issues received from the field.

General Field Engineer, Downhole Seismic Services (DSS) – USA & Trinidad 2003-2008

Lead Engineer for all Fracture Monitoring operations. Set up a basic guidance process for other Field Engineers during Hydraulic Fracture acquisition. Introduced best practice methodologies to network the acquisition, processing and mapping computers. Communicated with different parties including competitors to obtain required information for processing and mapping the data. Lead several big long critical Borehole Seismic operations for different clients, notably Shell, BHP and Kerr-McGee in both Offshore GOM and Trinidad. Trained and assisted Junior Engineers to get a grasp of both operating and QC/QA-ing the data during field operations.

CGG (BSD) – USA 1998-2003

Area Engineer, Borehole Services Division (BSD) – USA & Venezuela

Joined and continued to service CGG Borehole Services in USA in their strategic alliances with Halliburton and Schlumberger.

Supported Halliburton operations (land and offshore) in South America, particularly Venezuela. Successful operations accomplished for the major clients PDVSA as well as the SINCOR consortia (Total).

CGG Egypt LTD 1992-1998

Area Engineer-in-Charge, Operations Manager Duties (BSD) – Egypt

The former Seismograph Well Survey Borehole Geophysics Division integrated with CGG’s Borehole Seismic Services. Supported operations in both Congo and Nigeria as the market in West Africa. Grew in experience and there was a need for more experienced engineers to perform more complex operations offshore and onshore. Supported all operations in Yemen.

Main objective during this period was to regain market share. This was achieved by continuous improvement to service quality, and improved QC of the data gaining client trust. It was truly a challenge, completed with great success and was appreciated by senior management recognizing all members of the team.

Schlumberger Geco-Prakla 1991-1992

Senior Field Engineer (Borehole Geophysics Division) – Egypt & Yemen

At the merger of Seismograph into Geco-Prakla continued running field work in Egypt. Continued support for Yemen borehole seismic operations.

Seismograph Service Limited 1980-1991

Senior Field Engineer (Borehole Geophysics Division) – Egypt, Nigeria, Turkey, Sultantate of Oman & Yemen

Downhole Field Engineer acquiring downhole seismic data in both OIffshore and On Shore using different seismic sources including Vibe source, Air gun, weight drop and Dynamite. The job required traveling around all Egypt.

The Field Engnieer required communicating with the client and finding out the proper parameter for the job acquisition and client objectives from the job. Also maintain, trouble shoot and repair all the equipment in case of failure up to component level.

Continued on a path of excellence performing jobs and gaining more on-the-job experience in Egypt, Nigeria, Turkey, Sultantate of Oman and Yemen, studying. Learned the geophysical meaning and reasoning of data behavior, the different surface and downhole tools and the importance of preventative equipment maintenance. Worked on a land surface seismic uphole crew measuring LVL velocities to help resolve problems with variations in static correction along the extended seismic lines. Involved in a Dynamite comparison with a Vibrator and Weight Drop source. Tested to check the optimum dynamite charge size for good data quality with minimum environmental disturbance or damage.
