Navigation Laboratory at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL (August 2011 – May 2013) Graduate Research Assistant
Developed an Earth Orientation Parameter Prediction (EOPP) monitor to detect EOPP faults with high integrity for aviation navigation applications (funded by FAA). Analyzed and cleaned millions of data points to populate a covariance matrix for a linear measurement model. Master’s thesis can be viewed at www.joelmeno.webs.com. Packer Engineering, Naperville, IL (January 2011 – October 2011) Adjunct Engineer in Research and Development
Primarily designed and built a device to extract oxygen and silicon from lunar soil using a high-temperature atmosphere-controlled convective oven. This project required slip casting a thin-walled complex apparatus out of the radioactive material thorium dioxide thereby providing first-hand experience in handling radioactive material. Packer Engineering, Naperville, IL (Summer 2010)
NASA Illinois Space Grant Consortium (ISGC) Summer Intern Gathered empirical and computational modeling data on feasibility of using radio frequency heating in a design for a device to extract oxygen and silicon from lunar soil to advance in-situ resource utilization. OTHER WORK EXPERIENCE
Huntington Learning Center, Naperville, IL (September 2016 – Present), ACT/SAT Prep Tutor Taught methods and strategies to prepare students for the ACT/SAT. Da Chi Wellness, Montgomery, IL (July 2013 – Present), Business Advisor Optimized business profit and house call boundaries, advised in marketing strategies and customer growth.
