Driving Operational Improvements that Enhance Patient Care

Implemented new strategies to improve ED consisting of implementing Cardiac Alert Program – door to balloon time of < 90 minutes from 71% to 90%. Decreased ED LWT from 3.3% (national average) to 2%. Led Lean Project which dropped sepsis mortality from 41% to 25%.

Developed and Improved ICU/CVICU by reducing VAP’s/VAE from 14 to 1 over 8 years, CAUTI from 12 to 3 in one year with 0 in past 3 years and CLABSI’s from 9 to 3 over two years, with 1 in past 3 years through various implemented programs.

Developed and Implemented a clearly defined strategic plan to address the increased volume and higher acuity due to the consolidation of two EDs that accommodated 30,000 to 40,000 annual visits.

Developed and Implemented the consolidation of nursing practices from two facilities into one November of 2011. Collaborated with involved staff, senior leadership, physicians and architects in the merge, design and needs of the new facility; along with being the Global Sender, successfully moving 180 patients.

Increased Birthing Center quality metrics by implementing new protocol for pain during circumcision in 2011 with 100% compliance past 5 years, induction of labor in patients <39 week gestation reduced from 9 to 0 in past 8 years and reduced C-section 39 weeks from 8 to 0 in past 8 years.

Improved Inpatient Units by increasing Engagement Advisory scores by 45% in cardiac stepdown, 22% in CVICU and 11% in ICU from 2015-16.

Leading SRMC to a LOS O/E of 1.07, Mortality O/E of .56 and Readmission O/E of 1.06. More than doubled the national average of 23.9% Code Survival Rates per 1000 patient discharges with 64.9%.

Reduced outstanding accounts receivable (AR) for alcohol and chemical dependency program. Reduced AR by 60% within six months.

Participated in a county community needs assessment and provided guidance and leadership in areas pertaining to outreach and the role of the organization.
