SELECTED PROJECTS

Deep Learning (Ongoing): We use NYC’s transportation dataset to produce still frames time instances for a 5-year-long time period and build a model which predicts a city-wide distribution of demand given k instances of input data (demand/traffic density at a given node) using CNN, RNN, LSTM. Intelligent Agricultural Classification: Given the ERA-Interim climate dataset, we use information relevant to agriculture to explore unsupervised or supervised learning techniques that aim to identify regions across the globe with similar climate characteristics. Also we need to provide a measure of classification accuracy and compare the results versus Koppen-Geiger classification. Human Activity Recognition: Using 3-axial linear acceleration and angular velocity data with 561 different features collected by embedded accelerometers and gyroscopes built in Samsung smart phones, we employed machine learning models (random forest, GBM, SVM) to build a predictive model that uses as few features as possible, to identify one of six human activities and guarantee at least 90% accuracy. Data Mining: Using data mining techniques, we mined massive amounts of data from different sources such as NYC OpenData, using pattern mining algorithms such as FP-Growth, to gain knowledge of what patterns and correlations that noise complaints, crime and poverty among different boroughs in NYC have based on geolocations, income level etc.
